MIDLAND FEDERATIONANNUAL OUTING
The first Annual Excursion since the end of the First World War took place in 1923, which was a trip to Malvern, on Saturday June 30th, and a very enjoyable affair it proved. The afternoon was devoted first to Worcester Beacon, whence there is such a glorious prospect of our homeland, and later to the beautiful Priory Church, which was visited under the guidance of the local Vicar. The party was entertained to tea by Mr and Mrs A.C. Allen in the charming grounds of ‘The Priory’. The idea behind the arrangement of outings was by its nature either to produce photographic results or for Federation members to get to know each other, which this particular day out achieved.
Later the same year the members from Walsall Photographic Society spent an enjoyable and interesting afternoon during their club excursion to the City of Lichfield on Saturday, September 1st 1923. Leaving Walsall by the 2 o’clock Train the party arrived at their destination at 3 o’clock. Then proceeding to the Cathedral they were conducted around by Mr Harridance the Chief Verger who gave the party a very interesting history of the building and the beautiful stained glass windows.

The members in the photograph were Messrs: Shaw, Bullock, Wheeley, Moreton, Buch, Dewsbury, Manion, Hubball, Mrs Buch, Mrs Wheeley, Mrs Manion and Mrs Dewbury.
At 4 o’clock they visited the Guild Hall where they were received by the Mayor and Town Clerk who kindly had the City regalia placed upon tables for their inspection, which was followed by a brief but most interesting history of the different pieces of plate on display with an opportunity for the members to ask questions and to take pictures.
After a very nice tea at the George Hotel they next visited ‘St Chads Well’ where several members partook of the waters and gave the customary wish. They then had a look around the old Church of St Chads afterwards walking along the bank of the reservoir back to the City and thence bringing to a close a most enjoyable and educational day.
