Make the sales process as effective as possible, eliminating manual labor until creation oforder in ERPHave centralized dataAdapt ERP to B2C sales needs

The customer was using ERP and e-commerce as stand-alone systems which required a lotof manual labor to maintain strong data integrity between them. The e-commerce platformconsisted of different online shops for different markets which resulted in even moredecentralized data. Seeing the increasing importance of e-commerce as a B2C saleschannel, the customer opted for the integration between their B2C e-commerce platform andERP system, Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The goals of this project where as follows:

SOLUTIONThe sales process was improved by implementing fully automated import and creation oforders and, if needed, new customers in Microsoft Dynamics NAV without anyintervention of employees. In order to centralize data, translations were added to Microsoft Dynamics NAV andcustomizations made to standard pricing functionality. It allowed to keep master data ofall items and related information in the ERP.In Microsoft Dynamics NAV, item card is mostly focused on internal and B2B customerneeds. To make Microsoft Dynamics NAV the system which holds all master data of B2Ce-commerce, it had to be adapted to meet B2C customer needs. Modifications were madeto extend item descriptions for more information to be filled in, also new functionality thatpermits more than one image to be attached to item was implemented.Item category web service was designed to be easily processed by e-commerce platformwithout making customizations to standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV item categoryfunctionality.

BENEFITSThe order process got more effective, almost making it error-proof. In addition, by havingcentralized data there is a major decline in possibility of mistakes in business-criticalinformation, including pricing and item specifications. Item attributes can be managedstraight from the ERP, for example, the main item image on B2C platform, can be chosendirectly from the ERP system.

Reduce the need of manual follow-ups from sales managers to B2B clients Create synchronization of pricing, items, customers and their related informationMake sure that integration could be easily scalable according to the future needs of thecustomer

The customer's only business-to-business sales channels were e-mail and phone calls. Therefore, the aim was to implement a new B2B e-commerce platform and to make itseamlessly integrated with their ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics NAV.The goals of this project where as follows:

The need for manual follow-ups was reduced by thorough examination of customer'ssales order process workflow. This examination gave key points (like creating a pick, posting a warehouse shipment, etc.) on which we could bind status changes that can bepulled from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to e-commerce platform through web services andthen sent to the B2B client.Price is one of the most important factors affecting the buying decisions of many clients, and they usually compare prices on various sites before making a purchase. To ensurethat they provide competitive prices, retailers carefully watch their competitors and oftenrun promotions. To help our customer attract clients, it was very important that productsearch, the browse feature, lists, and the product details page would show the mostaccurate prices. Thus we designed an API that makes no compromise and in a simple yetelegant way takes into account all possible configuration options (provided by a standardMicrosoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) involved in client's price definition. All web services for e-commerce integration were logically structured so that even if thecustomer would like to upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (MicrosoftDynamics 365 Business Central) or implement major modifications to its ERP, thestructure of web services would remain unchanged and could be conveniently modified tobe filled with different information.
