Mass IntentionsMass IntentionsDo you have loved ones who have stopped coming to church? As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us give thought to our family, friends, neighbors and fellow Catholics who might only attend Mass to celebrate the birth of Jesus and not be with us at Mass the rest of the year.We need to call to mind how the shepherds were visited by an angel who told them to not be afraid; “I bring you good news of great joy which will come to all people; for to you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”Be one of those shepherds, glorifying and praising God by personally reaching out to the Good Shepherd’s lost sheep. Proclaim to them the Good News of what you have seen and heard and invite them to Mass in the New Year. This Christmas Season give the best gift of all – one that comes from a loving heart--give the gift of faith. May God bless you this Christmas season.Deacon Carl Calcara
For further information on this ministry, and suggestions for starting the conversation with those who have stopped going to Mass, visit saintjohnsunbury.org/catholic-life/mission-of-the-seventy-two/.
Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with rejoicing, to the only God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen – Jude 1:24-25“Now is a great time to reflect on both the victories and the regrets of the past year - not dwell on what went wrong, but to enter the New Year with intentionality. . . Setting [goals]. . . is a wise way to head into the year. . . But nothing is more important than applying Jude 1:24-25 to your New Year’s resolutions. What is going to keep you from stumbling? It’s God. He’s the One who is able to keep you from falling. . . Pray about what His goals are for you, and ask Him to help you grow to be more like Jesus in the coming year. . You’ll be most likely to achieve the things that you are doing for His glory.” – From the “Be Still” Devotional by Lisa Brenninkmeyer
BaptismsFuture Available Baptism date: January 10, February 14, and March 14 at 12:15 p.m. Baptisms will return to our usual time of 12:15 p.m. beginning in December. Your family must be registered members of our parish to schedule a Baptism. Also, if this is your first child, you should
attend a Baptism Preparation class. The next class will be held on Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m.
Please contact Rosemary Halter at 740.363.6021 or [email protected] for further information or to schedule a Baptism. To be fair to every family, we regret that we are unable to schedule private Baptisms.
The Order of Christian Initiation is always available for those seeking a church home and the Sacraments, when they or someone they know is ready to take the next step to a life of discipleship in the Catholic Church. Parishioners are always welcome to "drop in" and join us as we discuss and learn together about Catholic life, faith, and action.
On behalf of the Parish Staff and the OCI Team, let me invite you to learning, reflection and discernment as those among us make their way toward the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist).
It is never too late to begin attending sessions. Regardless of your religious background or experience with church, we will work with you wherever you happen to be, and help you to life in our community. If you know of someone who might be interested in joining us, please invite them.
If you'd like to join us for our sessions on Sundays beginning at 12:30 p.m., go to this link: https://tinyurl.com/OCI-Sunday.
If you'd like to take part in our sessions on Tuesdays beginning at 6:30 p.m., then go here: https://tinyurl.com/OCI-Tuesday.

Pray for Those in the ServicePlease continue to remember our military and their families in your prayers.
Lord Jesus, Savior of the World and King of Peace, watch over our sons and daughters in the service of their country. Protect them from the physical and moral dangers of military life. Keep them close to You and help them live the commandments. Lord Jesus, give them the courage to serve their country with honor and dignity. Be with them when they are in danger; strengthen them when they face hardships. Above all, Lord, grant that when their service is finished, they may return to us sound in body and soul. Amen.
