SCHOOL LIBRARY SYSTEM MISSION
Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES School Library System is a consortium of professionals and staff who provide vision, leadership, and service to the educational community.
We continue to focus on excellence in providing access to information, sharing resources and developing life-long learners.
HISTORY OF SCHOOL LIBRARY SYSTEMS
1948: 22 Public Library Systems established.
1968: 3R’s Councils -academic, special libraries.
1979-84: 12 School Library System pilots1984: SLSs created per NYS Ed. Law
&Commissioner’s Regulations
1986-87: $5.1 million provided for 46 SLSs.
New York State
1st to support a network of school libraries.
