will have an opportunity to showcase their talents at our Music
Art Dance and Drama (MADD) Night to be held on Thursday
9th November at Rutherford Technology High School Hall.
Notes have been sent home about the night, and we ask
parents to indicate if their child is able to attend the
performance.
This is a great opportunity for our students to shine on stage!
Thank you to the many teachers at the school who provide
such wonderful opportunities for our students. Thank you to
parents for making time in your busy schedule to come along
and enjoy a night of entertainment.
Please see the flyer in this newsletter!
PLANNING FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
Our school is constantly looking for ways we can improve our
programs and support for students. We are about to develop a
new three year school strategic plan. We would love to hear
from any parents who have ideas or would like to get involved
in planning for improvement. The P&C is a great way parents
can have a say, shape school directions and ask questions
about school and Departmental policies.
All parents are welcome!
SCHOOL FACEBOOK PAGE
We now have over 2000 followers on our Facebook page! This
site is a place to share photos and information for our parents
and community members. It is a great way to share all the
good things happening in our school!
Our Facebook page is generally not manned on a regular basis
and parents should not rely on questions being answered.
Parents and carers should make contact with the school office,
teachers or school executive if they have a question, concern or
need clarification about school events and policies.
We thank you for not making derogatory comments about our
school on this site.
SCHOOL UPGRADE
The Project Reference Group is in the process of finalising the
plans for our upcoming upgrade which is expected to
commence in July 2018. Plans will be on display soon for
public comment and feedback.

SPORT
SENIOR BOYS REG KELLY SHIELD CRICKET –
RUTHERFORD P.S VS KURRI KURRI P.S
Wickets tumbled one after the other as a strong Kurri Kurri side
ripped through the top order batsman. Rutherford were in
trouble after losing four early wickets. Things didn’t look good
for the Rutherford boys when Jayden Winsor and Nicholas
Drury stepped up to bat. With the odds stacked against them,
both boys led a Rutherford fight back. They showed great
resilience, skill and concentration to take control of the game
and put the pressure back on Kurri Kurri. Rutherford finished
all out for 49 runs.
Despite the best efforts from the Rutherford bowlers, Kurri Kurri
reached our total in the fourteenth over. Darcy Spalding was
the pick of the bowlers, taking one wicket for eleven runs off
four overs.

Dragon’s Nest Breakfast Club
Our mothers always told us that breakfast is the most
important meal of the day, and like many favourite old
sayings, it contains far more than a grain of truth. Eating a
nutritious breakfast is important for everyone – but
especially for children, as it can provide up to a third of
their daily nutrient needs. It also improves their
concentration and they are more likely to be settled and
happy and it allows them to participate better in school life.
Our breakfast club relies heavily on donations from the
community & help from our volunteers. If you are
interested in donating vegemite, honey, margarine,
strawberry jam, long life full cream milk, napkins, plastic
spoons & cups or would like to volunteer at the breakfast
club, please contact Mrs Gandhi (CLO) in the office. We
would like to say a big thank you to the following people
for their help & donations:
Lions Club Maitland
Miss Richards
Mrs Zilenski
Mrs Saxby
Mrs Gebbard
Miss Parkinson
Mrs Vassallo
Mrs Tansley
Mrs Swetnam
Mrs Bower
Mrs Heaney and
Our SLSO’s Ms L Farley & Mrs Nealon.
