Big idea: Boaz is not the only redeemer in our chapter…there is another…and another Connecting Name the first restaurant you will sit down to eat at after everything opens up. (Which one are you missing most?) Observation They passed sandals to “seal deals” in that day. What was the significance of this? How do we do deals today, informally and formally? Understanding Read Ruth 4. Describe how redeeming the land with Ruth in the deal was a economic disadvantage for Mr. No Name…and/or Boaz. How would it have been economically better for him had Ruth not been part of the package? What is the significance of Mr. No Name not having a name? Describe the irony involved. How is he the “anti-Ruth”? (How does he differ from her?) What is the significance of Jesus having a gentile woman (or two!) as part of his family tree? Who else is a redeemer in this passage? How is he like our ultimate Redeemer? Read Joel 2:25, 26. Redeemers restore. Name the different ways that Jesus restores us. Which is most significant to you personally? Living Read Romans 15:5-7; John 17:23. Why is unity so important to God? From the passage in John, what happens when brothers and sisters in Christ are disunified? How are you doing at loving and relating to people who are thinking differently about the virus than you are? Spend time praising the Lord Jesus for His selflessness as our Redeemer.
