EGUISHEIM

The Roman settlement of Eguisheim developed in apioneering way, the cultivation of grapes in Alsace since thefourth century .

The grandson of the Third Duke of Alsace, Count Eberhardt,ordered the construction of the first of the forts surroundingthe town from the eighth century and the reconstruction ofthe existing castle in the centre of town, formed byconcentric streets around it.

COLMAR The old city center, well preserved houses several buildings,
