Rush-Presbyterian-St.Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association FY17 Fiscal Year in Review Considerable progress has been made in our mission to support the College of Nursing in producing highly prepared nurses while promoting the college and its alumni. As alumni board president, I am grateful to the alumni board representatives and all Rush nurse alumni who make this success possible. Thank you to our alumni who continue to generously give of their time and resources, providing much-needed support to the next generation of nurse leaders. Marilyn Wideman, DNP, RN, BC, FAAN (DNP ’07) President, Rush-Presbyterian-St.Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association Strengthening Alumni Pride Hosted a Rush University College of Nursing reception at the 2016 American Academy of Nursing annual conference where five alumni were inducted as fellows. Attracted nearly 40 alumni to a social networking reception in Chicago and 73 alumni and guests to the 2017 Nursing Networks event, focused on the emerging role of nurse leadership in ambulatory care. Welcomed five new Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association Board members for the 2016-2018 term. Supporting the College Contributed $10,000 to the Dean’s Discretionary Fund to support student travel awards distributed by the College of Nursing Student Council. Increasing Student Outreach Connected with GEM and DNP students through alumni association presentations at two orientations and seven final visits, and shared alumni welcome remarks at two GEM convocation ceremonies. Attracted more than 80 alumni, faculty, students and staff nurses to a lunch presentation with Rush Chief Nursing Officer and alumna Angelique Richard, PhD, RN (BSN ’85, MSN ’88) during National Nurses Week in collaboration with the Student Nurses Association and Professional Nurse Staff. Participated at the Interprofessional Speed Networking event with more than 50 Rush University students preparing for graduation. Strategic Plan Accomplishments (July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017)
