Peace-Love-Run.com 2014 Athlete Information Packet Welcome to the 2014 Peace-Love-Run! This year’s event includes the Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and kid’s fun dash! Spring is in the air! And Mission Bay is a groovy course! Celebrate fun in the sun with all the hippie chicks and dudes at the PEACE-LOVE-RUN at the farrr outtt Finish line Festival. The finish line festival will be a flashback to the 60’s with music from the era – including the Stones, Hendrix, and the Beatles. Come in your coolest hippie attire and join the collective celebration with all race finisher’s sporting a peace sign VW Bug medal. Plan to spend some time at the finish line festival. We’ll offer refreshments and there will be food vendors offering tasty options for purchase. “Cher” will be there and perform a few songs. She’ll be hanging around the Peace-Love-Run backdrop to take pictures with the athletes. Whether this is your first, third or 30 th race, you’ll enjoy the scenic waterfront course that will propel you to your next fitness goal! By participating in the race you are helping support the 1 st Battalion Medical, Camp Pendleton. The organization is receiving a donation to help them raise funds for their Navy/Marine Corps Ball. Special thanks to the support of our finish line exhibitors Chiropractic Connection, Cooking for Life, Del Rio Foods, Honest Tea, Icecello, Origami Owl, Real Time Pain Relief, True Taste of Thai, Wyndham and Zico. Race information  The Peace-Love-Run Half Marathon, 10k, 5k is for men, women and children. A race number is required for each person on the Half Marathon10k and 5k and kids dash course, including babies and children. Jogging strollers are allowed but must start at the back of the group and stay to the right side of the path. Pets, bicycles, rollerblades and skateboards are not allowed in the race. We suggest refraining from using headphones during the race for safety of all the participants. Date: Sunday April 13 Start times (subject to change) Kids Dash: 6:45 am (it is around the festival area so you and your kid’s supporters can watch them. All the kids who complete the dash receive a super cool medal too!) Half Marathon: 7:00 am 10K Start Time: 7:15 5K Start Time: 7:30 am Address: 1775 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109.Just south of the Hilton hotel. Free parking Along Mission Bay Drive. Road Closure will be in effect starting at 6:30 am Also at the Sunrunners dirt parking lot, cross streets are East Mission Bay Drive and Sea World Drive. Exit on Sea World Drive (from I-5 north or south.)

Registration closes Friday, April 11 at 5:00 pm Registration available beginning at 6:15 am at the race. CASH ONLY Bib pick-up: Must Provide a photo ID. Each participant must pick-up their own bib. If you are unable to pick-up your bib on Saturday, we will have it for you at the event, starting at 6:15 am. Adults may pick-up their children’s bibs. Please bring your confirmation to make the process faster. If you lost your confirmation, we can look you up in the system. Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Race route: Half marathon: http://www.runningmap.com/?id=695326 The race begins just south of the Hilton on Mission Bay Drive At half a mile take a left onto Fiesta Island Road and run along the water front. There is a loop on the island with a left turn at 3.41 miles and straight to 3.61 and the route curves northeast to 3.82 miles. Stay on the road and around the curve of the Island heading south to Mile 5. Keep going and see Mile 6. Continue along Fiesta Island Road at mile 6.78, and off the Island. Make a right onto the frontage path along Mission Bay Drive. Veer left at mile 6.96 and continue south follow the path around a blue roofed pavilion and continue with a turn at 7.61 miles. Head back on an adjacent path and at mile 8.28 the path continues heading north. At mile 8.36 cross and onto a path close to the shoreline. At mile 8.51 cross the bridge. The path heads northwest and passes a playground to the right and the bay on the left. Continue north always along the shoreline pass the race start area at Mile 9 keep going north past the Hilton resort at mile 9.17 stay along gentle wind of the path past the boat launch and Visitor’s Center to the turn-around at the north end of the park. Head back along the path to the finish line festival! 10k http://www.runningmap.com/?id=686920 The Start line is just south of the Hilton on Mission Bay Drive At half a mile take a left onto Fiesta Island Road and run along the water front and off the island. Make a right onto a paved path along East Mission Bay Drive heading south and turn back at 5.18 miles and go back along Mission Bay Drive. At 5.46 miles, cross Fiesta Island Drive and take the paved path that is a frontage to East Mission Bay Drive. Continue north on the path over a bridge at 5.62 miles. The view along the park route includes the Bay to the left and a playground to the right. At mile 5.97 veer on to the left staying on the path at mile 6 and it’s a straight shot and a right to the finish! 5k http://www.runningmap.com/?id=695295 Starting line is just south of the Hilton on Mission Bay Drive. At half a mile take a left onto Fiesta Island Road and run along the water front to 1.5 miles and return back. The finish line shoots right into the finish line festival!

Awards & Festival

• Each finisher receives a VW Bug Medal, Half Marathon medals are a bit larger and dangle from a full color ribbon. You must be wearing or present a bib to receive a medal. All finishers, including strollers and kids dash participants, receive a medal.

• Cher will make an appearance at 9:30 at the festival and be there for pictures until

11am. Awards The top three males and top three female finishers from each race with ll be announced at approximately 9 am.

Charity & Donations Since runners love to do good works, we are collecting canned goods for Mama’s Kitchen. Grab a few cans before you leave the house and brighten the day for someone less fortunate.

Frequently Asked Questions Q: What type of course is it? A: The course is mixed terrain, mostly cement paths and asphalt. It is an open course, with the exception of Fiesta Island which is closed to traffic from 7 am to 9 am. Q: What do I need to pick up my shirt and bib? A: Picture ID and it is fastest if you also bring your race confirmation. If you cannot pick-up your bib on Saturday at Sports Authority, you may pick it up race morning beginning at 6:15 am. Q: Can a friend pickup my bib and shirt for me with my ID and confirmation? A:No,We offer bib pick-up the morning of the race so making this unnecessary. Q: Where is bib pick-up? A: Saturday, April 12 at Sports Authority in Mission Valley 8550 Rio San Diego Dr. San Diego, from 10 am to 2 pm Q: I lost my confirmation, what do I do? A: Our timing company will also have lists available to look up your info.

Q: Can I get a refund? A: Sorry, no refunds or transfers are allowed. Q: Will aid stations be on the course? A: Yes, there are water stations and medical personnel on the course and at the Finish line. Q: Timing? A: The race will be chip time, so your time starts when you step on the mat at the Starting Line of the race. Only the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K runners will be timed. Q: Are baby carriers or backpacks allowed on the course? Q. Are there restrooms along the course? A:Yes, Half Marathon Course: at .5 mile, at the entrance of Fiesta Island, between Mile 3 and 3.4, at Mile 8.68 by the children’s playground, Mile 9, Mille 9.75, (mile 12.62 coming back), Mile 10.18, (Mile 11.96 coming back.), Mile 10.49, (Mile 11.6 back), Mile 11.06. 10K Course .5 mile, at the entrance of Fiesta Island, by the playground at Mile 2.82.
