At around 6 o’clock in the morning, the participants began the 1.5 km jog/walk from Catmondaan highway to the planting site in Sitio Purok 2, Brgy. Catmondaan, Catmon, Cebu.

The nuns, teachers and some students of the Passionist Sisters’ School (PSS) still managed to smile despite the long walk to the planting site.

The last group of participants to arrive at the planting site was composed of teachers and pupils of Catmondaan Elem. School.

Upon arriving at the planting site, the participants immediately went to get some seedlings at the nursery. The people who took charge in the seedling distribution also instructed the participants where and how to plant the young trees properly.

A total of 1000 tree seedlings were planted during the Run2Plant 2015 activity. The seedlings were composed of 500 pcs. Jackfruit, 300 pcs. Sabana and 200 pcs. Tugas.

The seedlings were prepared by the farmers’ organization of Catmondaan – the Hiniusang Mag-uuma Sa Catmondaan (HIMASACA). The members of the said organization will also take charge in maintaining a high survival rate of the newly-planted young trees.

The planting site was a 1 hectare piece of land located at Sitio Purok 2 in Brgy. Catmondaan. The area is a combination of plains and hills.

The fruit-bearing tree seedlings (Nangka and Sabana) were planted on the plain side.

The Tugas seedlings were planted on the hilly area.

Mayor Dan Jusay also did his part of making efforts to save Mother Earth. He led the participants of the Run2Plant 2015 activity in planting the seedlings.

Pupils of Catmondaan Elementary School enthusiastically climbed the hills of the planting site to plant the Tugas seedlings.
