It’s fun to use ZOOM to learn and hang out with friends.

When using ZOOM, it’s important to follow rules and use good manners.

2. You can use headphones if you have them. It may make it easier for you to hear.

3. Make sure your video is on and your screen is pointed toward your face so that others can see you clearly.

~ If you prefer to not show your face, you can click “Stop Video.”

~ Your face will not be displayed for others to see.

~ But… it’s nicer if we can see each other’s faces.

4. Stay in your seat, in front of the screen. Don’t get up and walk away if you don’t have to.

! Try not to wiggle around.

! Don’t get too close to the screen.

! Don’t walk around with your screen in your hands.

! Don’t have conversations with others in your house, while in a ZOOM meeting.

5. Your teacher might ask you to keep your audio {sound} on “Mute” {others can’t hear you} until you are invited to speak.

When asked to speak, click on “Unmute” {others can hear you.}

> When you are on “Mute” you will be able to hear the host {teacher}.

> The “Host” {teacher} will notbe able to hear you.

> Other group members will not be able to hear you.

6. You can “Raise Your Hand” {click the blue hand picture} to show the teacher that you have something to say or share.

- You can do this by clicking on the “Participants” {people who are in the meeting} button on the bottom bar to pull up a list of who is in the meeting.

- On the bottom of that field you will see a “Raise Hand” picture. Click it to raise your hand. To lower your hand, click “Lower Hand.”

> If your teacher invites you to speak, the message to the right may pop up.

> If it does pop up, click the blue“Unmute Myself” button.

> Remember to “Mute” yourself again, after you are done speaking.

“Chat” comments may be posted to the teacher only, or they may be posted for everyone to see. Remember that your comments must be appropriate at all times. Not too silly, no bad words, stay on topic.

8. To communicate to the group non-verbally{with pictures/not words}, use the “Reactions” button on the bottom bar to the right.

- You can also use picture symbols in the “Participants” window.

- Click on the “more” button to find other options.

9. When it’s time to end the meeting or if you need to leave the meeting early, say goodbye by waving or speaking, “Goodbye” and then click on “Leave Meeting” on the right side of the bottom bar.

* Don’t leave the meeting without letter the people in the group know! It’s polite to say goodbye, wave or type a farewell in the “chat” first.
