EXAMPLE: Home School Waivers
Amendment #14 established the NAIA Home School
Committee (HSC) as the entity responsible for issue a home
school waiver to a student showing academic preparedness
even though the student fails to meet the elevated test score
requirements.
Expedites the process for home schooled students.
Adds to the CFAR Policy section a description of how the
HSC will evaluate a home schooled student.

Eligibility: Official Eligibility Certificate Certification is required for all students
competing during the applicable term.
Applies to scrimmages, exhibitions and
regular contests at the freshmen, jv and
varsity levels.

term during which a team will compete.

Student who is certified for participation in the fall must be
recertified to play in winter (quarter only) or spring terms
Must be recertified by midnight on the 21st day after the end of
the previous term (Article V, Section B, Item 3)
Must stop participating immediately upon discovering the
student no longer meets continuing eligibility requirements

Eligibility FAQ - First Time NAIA Participants What about a “red-shirt” who transfers to a new school?
What if a student gets a determination but does not enroll for a
during the applicable term?
What if a student gets a determination but decides to
participate in a different sport?

question about whether a student requires reactivation.

postsecondary institution of higher education for at least 2
semesters/3 quarters
Freshmen must meet 2 out of 3 requirements:
2.0 GPA
Finish in top half of the student’s graduating class
18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT (Math & Reading only)
