the overall evidence suggests that many doctors will experienceburnout in their careers, that burnout rates are rising and havereached an “epidemic level,” and that burnout can havedevastating consequences for affected doctors, their colleagues,their patients, and the healthcare system
Key findingsA majority of doctors (80%) in our survey were at high/very high risk of burnout with junior doctors most at risk. Burnout was driven mostly by exhaustion rather thandisengagement from one’s role as a doctor.
