The Tags transmit their ownunique ID and the ID of theemitter to the readers/AP.

The info is transmitted to

the application softwarethrough the middleware forfurther interpretation.

As the IV Pump leaves theroom there is no moreassociation with thisparticular IR emitter and data isupdated accordingly with

an alert.

the appropriate staff is automatically notified.

Again after cleaning when the IV Pump isbrought to Supermarket the data is updatedto indicate its availability.

surgery, he gets the armbandwith RFID/IR Tag attached to it,and it is scanned. The softwaredetermines the arrival of the

patient .2. Unique ID on the armband is

linked with his ID and MedicalRecord.

3. Alert sent to the relevant staff toprepare the patient and requiredequipment.

during the surgical process.

2. Each clinician in the processcompletes his/her work and notifies others

through scanning the tag or pressing a buttonon the tag.

3. The Alert is sent to the relevant staff toprepare the patient. LCD displays throughout

the Department display the status of thepatient

4. At the completion of the surgery the tag sendsa signal that the patient is leaving the OR, sothat the team becomes ready for the next

As the Patient isremoved from the OR,the room is marked asto be Cleaned and

EMS notified. It is again notified when

that the OR is available

Event records are used to

trigger rule based alerts for differentactivities, for example when all theequipment is disconnected from the

patient bed, immediate notificationis sent to the house keeping,reducing the likelihood of reusing the

dirty bed.

RTLS allows the tracking of everyencounter between patients, staff,equipment along with space. Theavailability of real time locationinformation can be used to identifypeople and assets that are currently orhave been at the same location as an

infected patient. Appropriate alerts, notification, or task

assignments can be triggered.
