1 DEVICE, 2 SCANNERS

With the compact RSL 400 safety laser scanner family, we have set a new standard worldwide in the supreme discipline of safety sensor technology. With our decades of experience, we have succeeded in developing a device that uses clever functions to – in many cases – perform two tasks simultaneously.

Its large scanning angle of 270° is especially advantageous. For example, in the case of mounting on corners for front and side guarding the RSL 400 replaces a second laser scanner for many applications. In combination with its operating range of 8.25 m, the RSL 400 secures areas up to 160 m2 – a peak value for safety laser scanners.

Two independently adjustable configurations and two safety-related switching output pairs (OSSDs) allow two different protection tasks to be performed simultaneously with just one device. And to do so while fully satisfying EN ISO 13849 and the EC machinery directive.

The RSL 400 safety laser scanner sets new standards in the safeguarding of large areas.

100 switchable field pairsThe RSL 400 provides sufficient reserves with a huge number of 100 field pairs even for complex monitoring cases. Also switching of 50 quads (sets of 4 fields) is supported. The creation of independent configurations is easier than ever with the application-oriented user interface.

Two communication paths Integrated network connectivity: the Ethernet TCP/IP interface allows simple and convenient configuration and diagnostics. Furthermore, the devices can be controlled and configured wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Intelligent connection unitsWith integrated cable management, the removable connection units facilitate simple mounting of the safety laser scanners in just a few steps: mount connection unit with standard tools, place the laser scanner on the connection unit, finished.

The simplest integration The basic version of the RSL 410 offers particularly simple integration into the machine control thanks to the 8-pin M12 connection. Alternatively, a connection unit with an AIDA compliant pin assignment is also available for the RSL 410.

Start-up The initial configuration is completed with just 5 steps and you can use the simulation mode to ensure that everything is correct – thanks to the "Sensor Studio" configuration and diagnosis software.

Exchanging a device was never so easyFor a device exchange, the safety laser scanner can be removed from the connector unit at any time with standard tools and replaced with other RSL 400 devices without realignment, readjustment and configuration work – an important plus point for maintenance and servicing.

The RSL 400 family comprises 16 device types in four staggered operating ranges and four function variants. Therefore, you can select the optimum scanner for the best price/performance ratio with an operating range of up to 8.25 m and up to 100 switchable field pairs, if required. Whether mobile or stationary – the RSL 400 family covers a wide range applications.

Select the device that best suits your needs. This allows you to invest in exactly the sensor technology that you actually need.

RSL 410/420 – the all-rounders for standard tasks.

The XL version of the RSL 410 entry- level model is already perfectly suited for safeguarding large areas up to 160 m2. The RSL 410 also offers a 4-field set, i.e. monitoring with one protective field and up to 3 warning fields. Selectable resolutions, selectable start-up behavior with contactor monitoring (EDM) and reference boundary monitoring round off the functionality.

The RSL 420 variants add switching over of 10 field pairs or 4-field sets to adapt to multiple monitoring cases.

RSL 430 – ideal for stationary applications.

Two independent protective functions and OSSD pairs with individual response times: the RSL 430 combines the characteristics of two RSL 420 in only one device. Due to its 10+10 switchable field pairs, it can be precisely adapted to the safety tasks. It is therefore ideally suited for stationary applications were previously 2 scanners were necessary. Nine configurable I/Os and the option for E-Stop linkage complement the capability of the RSL 430.

RSL 440 – with top-notch functions for mobile applications.

The RSL 440 is ideally suited for mobile applications with 100 switchable field pairs or 50 switchable 4-field sets. Nine configurable I/Os support integration into the controller, e.g. for status control with/without load. Re-configuration is necessary when switching operating modes due to up to 10 simultaneous parameter configurations. With just two RSL 440 you already get complete all-round protection thanks to four independent protective functions. In addition to the large scanning range, emergency-stop linkage and the configurable data output for supporting navigation are also advantageous.
