Army organises veterinary camp STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: A veterinary camp was organised at village Dachhan in Kishtwar District by the army, recently to address the concern of people of remote areas in Kishtwar who are dependent on cattle for their daily sustenance. Army organises amity meeting STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: Minister for infor- mation Technology, Technical Education, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari on Thursday said that the government is committed to strength and augment the tech- nical education sector so that the proper honing of youth is done which would ensure that they are able to create self-employ- ment avenues for themselves as well as the other youth and the inauguration and foundation of new six polytechnics by the Chief Minister is a step towards the same initiative. The minister was chairing a review meeting, wherein he took stock of arrangements put in place for the upcoming inaugu- ration of polytechnics in Reasi, Samba, Kathua and foundation in Doda, Udampur and Kishtwar polytechnics in Kathua, Samba and Resai by the Chief Minister. Minister of State for Technical Education, Priya Sethi was also present in the meeting. Ansari directed the officials that web casting arrangements should be made available in all the six places in Jammu. The minister stressed upon the officials for making the poly- technics vibrant as these are the institutions where market ori- ented courses are offered. Director Technical Education gave a detailed presentation on the arrangements of Polytechnics who are inaugurat- ed wherein the minister was informed about the infrastruc- ture put in place in newly con- structed Polytechnics, their intake capacity, major courses which will be offered. Various shortfalls were also discussed in the meeting which besides others included the non- popularity of courses/trades and lack of awareness of the various courses. The minister gave instructions to the concerned officials to make proper aware- ness of the courses in the High and Higher Secondary Schools in advance and frame committee for scanning of non-popular courses. To boost employment opportu- nities, Ansari stressed upon the concerned to create skilled and trained manpower which could be utilized both within and out- side. It was also given out in the meeting that a training and placement cell should be created which after interaction with the industries could enhance the job placement of the trained stu- dents. Other issues which were reviewed included the physical, financial status of civil works in old Polytechnics, women hostels, progress in construction of new polytechnics etc. The concerned executing agencies were directed to expe- dite the construction work so that these could be completed within stipulated time frame. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Information Technology Sanjeev Varma, Director Technical Education, Shabnam Kambli. Army organises veterinary camp STATE TIMES NEWS

KISHTWAR: A veterinary camp was organised at villageDachhan in Kishtwar District by the army, recently toaddress the concern of people of remote areas in Kishtwarwho are dependent on cattle for their daily sustenance.

The camp saw widespread participation and was a huge suc-cess wherein about 2,237 cattle were treated. The team of vet-erinary doctors rendered their services and free of cost medi-cines were also distributed. This camp was instrumental incarving out a niche for better health efforts of the livestock.The continuous and relentless efforts of the army towardsconduct of such camps have been greatly appreciated andlauded by the locals.

STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Minister for infor-mation Technology, TechnicalEducation, Molvi Imran RazaAnsari on Thursday said thatthe government is committed tostrength and augment the tech-nical education sector so that theproper honing of youth is donewhich would ensure that theyare able to create self-employ-ment avenues for themselves aswell as the other youth and theinauguration and foundation ofnew six polytechnics by the ChiefMinister is a step towards thesame initiative.

The minister was chairing areview meeting, wherein he tookstock of arrangements put inplace for the upcoming inaugu-ration of polytechnics in Reasi,Samba, Kathua and foundation

in Doda, Udampur andKishtwar polytechnics inKathua, Samba and Resai bythe Chief Minister.

Minister of State for TechnicalEducation, Priya Sethi was alsopresent in the meeting.

Ansari directed the officialsthat web casting arrangementsshould be made available in allthe six places in Jammu.

The minister stressed uponthe officials for making the poly-technics vibrant as these are theinstitutions where market ori-ented courses are offered.

Director Technical Educationgave a detailed presentation onthe arrangements ofPolytechnics who are inaugurat-ed wherein the minister wasinformed about the infrastruc-ture put in place in newly con-

structed Polytechnics, theirintake capacity, major courseswhich will be offered.

Various shortfalls were alsodiscussed in the meeting whichbesides others included the non-popularity of courses/trades andlack of awareness of the variouscourses. The minister gaveinstructions to the concernedofficials to make proper aware-ness of the courses in the Highand Higher Secondary Schoolsin advance and frame committeefor scanning of non-popularcourses.

To boost employment opportu-nities, Ansari stressed upon theconcerned to create skilled andtrained manpower which couldbe utilized both within and out-side.

It was also given out in themeeting that a training andplacement cell should be createdwhich after interaction with theindustries could enhance the jobplacement of the trained stu-dents. Other issues which werereviewed included the physical,financial status of civil works inold Polytechnics, women hostels,progress in construction of newpolytechnics etc.

The concerned executingagencies were directed to expe-dite the construction work sothat these could be completedwithin stipulated time frame.

A delegation of editors of prominent newspapers including GreaterKashmir and Kashmir Uzma editor-in-chief, Fayaz Kaloo, DailyChattan editor, Tahir Mohiuddin, Kashmir Images editor, BashirManzar, M Y Taing, ex-Director, Information and Public Relations,Dr Farooq Kaloo, Former Director, Animal Husbandry and civil soci-ety member, among others accompanied the minister.

Dr Drabu appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Informationand Public Relations (DIPR) in preserving the rare, pre-independ-ence newspapers and photographs which document the rich culturaland political history of the State.
