Overview

• Goal of the Presentation:• This presentation attempts to layout the standard RRU and BBU configurations for the markets. Each

configuration is a “per sector” view.

•The choice of RRU & BBU configurations depends on:• The required number of 1900 MHz Carriers (CDMA + EVDO)• Software release 2.0 timeline

• Diplexers are to be avoided• Exceptions when Two 1900 MHz RRUs required and only 1 antenna possible (example Flag Pole)

• If Towers can not support RRUs, then Ground Based alternative can be considered

•.

BBU2 Needs:• 1 UAMA card (LTE control)• 1 L9CA card (for 2 5MHz carrier LTE)

BBU Configuration: For CDMA/EVDO Carriers = 1 to 6 (up to Five 1900 MHz + One 800 MHz)

BBU1 Needs:• 1 CIMA cards (CDMA control)• 3 CICA-A or CICA-D cards (CDMA & EVDO traffic)• Note, one of the CICA cards will have 800 MHz CDMA

CICA-D cards• Can only do 1 EVDO carrier• And, can do 1 Voice carrier (either 800 or 1900 mHz)

CICA –A cards• Can do 2 Voice Carriers (either carrier can be 1900 MHz or you can change

one to 800 MHz)

1 BBU can support 3 traffic cards (or 6 carriers)• But, 4 EVDO’s will trigger 2nd BBU• 1 RRU can handle 1 CDMA BBU + 1 LTE BBU

• a second CDMA BBU would require a 2nd RRU

Attached is the formulas to calculate The correct number of CICA-A & CICA-D cards
