Eating healthy meals is linked to higher grades, better memory and alertness, and faster

information processing. Food that is rich in fiber, proteins, and healthy fats keep the

body feeling full longer, providing enough energy to stay focused and alert throughout

the entire day. Having a healthy diet is one of the most important ways to prevent

chronic disease. Healthy eating habits are more likely to stay with you if you learn them

as a child. That is why it is essential that you teach your child good eating habits now.

Here are some ways you can incorporate good eating habits with your child:

Eat breakfast daily: Eating a balanced breakfast is an excellent way for your

child to start their day.

Make Mealtime a Priority: Sitting down at the table and eating as a family helps

form healthy eating habits as children thrive on having a routine.

Get Kids Involved: Involve your child in grocery shopping and choosing what to

eat. Teach them how to read food labels so they know the nutritional value of

what they are consuming.

Limit Sugar: Sugar occurs naturally in many foods. However, many foods, such as

ketchup and frozen meals, have added sugar. To limit sugar in your diet, you can

modify recipes, avoid sugary drinks, or eat more fruit.

Set Snack Boundaries: Teach your kids to ask before getting a snack. Put snack

like pretzels or light popcorn in a small bowl or plate at a table instead of letting

them eat from the bag for portion control.

RRCC SACC hopes you and your family have a Happy Holiday!

In compliance with licensing,

students will have indoor recess if the

temperature is under 20 degrees F or

over 95 degrees F. During the cold

weather, please make sure that your

child had appropriate winter-wear

for them to go outside and play.
