    Recent professional development:

I decided to take the CELTA for two reasons. Foremost, I was absolutely convinced about the highly

ractical nature of the course that will add a great deal of strength to my rofessional rofile. !econdly, I

was attracted by its international reutation as a assort to an international career in English language

teaching. The course is challenging as it urorted to be and hard work is the only way to get through.

The inut sessions focused on the essentials of teaching methodology. The key areas I learnt from the

    CELTA course include"

    a# $nderstanding the learners and the teaching%learning conte&ts 'e.g. learning styles, motivating

factor, uroses for learning at etc.#

b# Analysing language for teaching uroses 'conte&tuali(ing language, focus on meaning, form and

    ronunciation#

c# )eling the students develo their recetive and roductive skills

d# Teaching grammar and vocabulary in conte&t 'e.g. using timelines and Concet *checking

    +uestions and etc.#

e# lanning lessons effectively for a smooth and efficient learning rocess 'e.g. drafting outcome

based lessons lans, describing rocedure in details, identifying interaction atterns, ordering

activities, anticiating roblems in the rocess of learning and etc.#

f# -anaging the rocess of learning and teaching 'e.g. giving clear instructions, using aroriate

aroaches, methods and techni+ues, using air%grou work, monitoring and giving feedback and

    etc.#

g# eveloing teaching skills and rofessionalism from reflective ractices.

Assessed teaching ractice and lesson observations heled me to understand theory in ractice, thereby

taking our understanding of teaching methodology to a more rofound level.
