ABOUT US

Our intensive rehabilitation programmes are designed to return a patient to independence quickly, and to keep time spent in hospital to a minimum.

Patients and their families are fully involved in planning and monitoring their own rehabilitation in partnership with our multidisciplinary nursing and therapy teams employing the latest treatment methods and technology.

Our comprehensive package of post-trauma care for patients and their families helps to accelerate recovery. Private accommodation is provided on site so that family can remain close by.

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital has been specialising in post-operative rehabilitation for over 20 years. We work in partnership with consultants from The National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and other major London hospitals.

Our well equipped facilities include three gyms, a hydrotherapy pool, 20 treatment and therapy rooms, 40 ensuite bedrooms, and the latest technology.

We work with private insurers and the NHS and accept private referrals from the UK and abroad.

“At The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, state-of-the-art medical care, new treatment methods, advances in research and technological innovations translate directly into an improved quality of life for our patients.” Maurizio Belci, Consultant in Spinal Cord Injuries

COMPLEX LONG TERM CONDITIONS We have introduced a new service for adults with complex needs that includes respite and long term care. By merging skills and expertise with our sister facility Kings Lodge Centre for Complex Needs (www.kingslodge-redhill.co.uk), together we are able to care for over 100 adults with a wider range of complex spinal and neurological conditions.

We recognise that a number of these patients have specific needs that can’t be met in a hospital or general nursing home.

Our service provides a nursing and therapy skill set that gives patients a better standard and quality of life, and combats social isolation.

SERVICES INCLUDE:

‘THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HOSPITAL IN ENGLAND’The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital was built in 1862. The attractive Grade II listed building was the first civilian hospital to incorporate the design ideas of Florence Nightingale who said: “It will be the most beautiful hospital in England”. Lord Rothschild laid the foundation stone for the new rear wing in 1905. The ‘Royal’ status was added after the future King Edward VII was treated here.

LOCATION

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital is located in the heart of Aylesbury and is well connected for central London, Heathrow and other major airports, the national road and rail network.

Aylesbury has excellent shopping and leisure facilities and we are five minutes from The National Spinal Injuries Centre at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
