Round 8 was not only the cold-

est, windiest and wettest day of

our season to date, but it was

the toughest and most com-

petitive round against one of

the strongest sides in the

league, North Ballarat.

Unfortunately we did not score

too many wins today but I’m

proud to hear that all our play-

ers gave it their best in such

atrocious conditions.

Congratulations to our under 10

reserves players who won con-

vincingly by 31 points and our

Youth Girls showed Diggers Rest

what they were made of com-

ing home with an 86 point win!

Amazing game girls!

Congratulations also goes to

our under 11 reserve netballers

who fought hard and tied

against North Ballarat and our

under 13 reserve netballers had

a great 8 goal win against

North. Well done to you all.

The weekend of the 7th & 8th July is

a school holiday bye. There will be

no junior football or netball played

that weekend. Please check with

your coaches for changes to your

Our U9’s are competing against

Melton Centrals tomorrow night at

Arnold’s Creek, U13 footy girls are

playing Melton Centrals at home

on Saturday and Youth Girls are

playing the Gisborne Whites also

at home on Saturday. Our U16

senior boys are off to Mars Sta-

dium to play North Ballarat again.

Darley vs Eynesbury

Match Summary: On Wednesday 13th June our under 9s had the pleasure of playing their

first ever game in atrociously wet weather - and as 7 year old's do - they

had a ball!

Billy Borlase captained the team brilliantly and with no one out injured

and Annie Thomas debuting in style, we fielded 17 players - a record!

Most of our team played brilliantly against a talented, older and bigger

Eynesbury. A few understandably were taken aback by standing out in

torrential rain, but added to their footy education.

We take on Melton Centrals at Arnold’s Creek next week on 20th June,

then we return to Darley Park on the 27th June for another home game v

Ballan with bbq and drinks on hand.

Match Summary: With a slower start than usual, our Devils were on the

chase from the 1st quarter, but in true Devils spirt we

never game up and only improved each quarter.

Second half we actually outscored North 11 to 9.

Very impressive considering North sit on top of the

ladder. Positive result, only losing by 7. We definitely

have potential to beat the top teams – Hold your

heads proud – we only get better and stronger

Match Summary: What a hard contested match you all played. You

should be proud of how hard you all worked in poor

weather conditions against a strong team. We nearly

had them, but we all know that some mistakes can

turn any game around quickly and find us chasing our

tails. Our defence worked hard with some great turn

arounds with the mid court bringing the ball down to

our goalies with strong direction. You made the op-

position work hard for all their passes and it was cer-

tainly not an easy win for them so well done. Let’s

against Bendigo to fight for the 2018 La Trobe University Gold-

fields Trophy. We are pleased to advise that all Ballarat inter-
