•Formed in 1999 in New York City, Kimya Dawson and Adam Green’s bandThe Moldy Peaches became active in the NYC anti-folk scene, where theybecame known for Kimya’s distinctive, child-like voice.

•Their songs are usually slow-paced and unrehearsed, which became clear on the song “Nothing Came Out” in which Kimya starts laughing in a recording, most of their songs discuss themes of childhood or adolescense.

•They were first given mainstream attention when “Who’s Got The Crack” was named Single Of The Week in NME, but recently have been recognised after several of their songs were featured in the hit movie “Juno” as well as their song “Anyone Else But You” being performed by leading actors Ellen Page and Michael Cera. The soundtrack to the movie Juno topped the U.S Billboard 200 in its third week of physical release, leading to “Anyone Else But You” being released in the U.K

•In 2001 they toured internationally with The Strokes, also signed to Rough Trade, after guitarist Aaron Wilkinson died of a drug overdose in 2003, The Strokes dedicated their album Room On Fire to his memory.

•The Moldy Peaches went on hiatus in 2004, in 2008 Kimya publicly stated she is not considering reforming the band at present.

•After Pete Doherty was kicked out of The Libertines in 2003 for substance abuse problems and for burgling bandmate Carl Barat’s flat, he formed the Babyshambles with former Libertines front man Steve Bedlow. The band however, was sidelined after Pete was released from prison after two months and rejoined the Libertines, only to be kicked out again in 2004 due to drug use. Babyshambles’ self-titled single was released in 2004 on High Society Records on CD and vinyl.

•After several line-up changes, Babyshambles stabilised themselves in 2004 with Pete on vocals, Patrick Walden on guitar, Gemma Clarke on drums and Drew McConnell on bass. Their second single, released on Rough Trade Records, “Kilimangiro” reached number 8 on the UK Singles Chart later that year. However, Pete’s drug addiction greatly affected their UK tour in December 2004, after it became clear he was too intoxicated to perform, the band walked off stage in Blackpool, and a riot broke out at the London Astoria when Pete failed to appear. Angered with the management for failing to address Pete’s obvious drug addiction, Gemma Clarke quit the band in 2005.

•Their debut album, Down In Albion, was released in 2005 and reached the UK Top Ten

Album Charts, with singles “Fuck Forever” and “Albion” reaching number four and number 8 on the UK Singles Chart respectively. In July 2005 Oasis booked Babyshambles to support them on their UK but cancelled them after Pete failed to appear for their first appearance, as he was partying with model Kate Moss. In 2006 Babyshambles won the Naomi Award for “Worst Live Act” In 2007 Babyshambles played Oxegen, Glastonbury Festival, V Festival and T in the Park. Their second album “Shotters Nation” was released to critical acclaim in 2007 and named came #14 on NME’s Albums of the Year.•They are scheduled to appear in 2010’s T In The Park festival. The current line-up is Pete Doherty on vocals, Adam Ficek on drums, Drew McConnell on bass and Mick Whitnall on guitar.
