Song of the Week
I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing
I'd like to teach the world to sing
in perfect harmony,
I'd like to hold it in my arms
and keep it company.
I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
That's the song I hear
Let the world sing today
A song of peace that echoes on
And never goes away .

Future Vision
Sustainability What is sustainability? The Rotary Foundation defines sustainability as the capacity for maintaining outcomes long-term to serve the ongoing need of a community after grant funds have been expended. What are The Rotary Foundation’s prin-
ciples of sustainability? The Foundation’s principles of sustainability provide Rotarians with a guide to incorporating sustainability into their projects and activities. These eight principles are stated below, along with ex-
amples for putting them into action: 1. Global grants include activities and safe-
guards that continue a project’s impact af-ter Foundation funding is fully expended.
2. Global grants work toward multiple levels of sustainability 3. Global grants make use of local resources, re
gional input, and local knowledge as much as possible.
4. Global grants respect the natural resource base and avoid deterioration or destruction of
the local environment. 5. Global grants attempt to reach the most bene-
ficiaries possible. 6. Global grants prepare scholars and individuals
to contribute to new and innovative methods in professional fields within a Foundation area of focus.
7. Global grants prepare participants to increase impact and improve effectiveness in the com-munities and vocations in which they work.
8. Global grants utilize the input and skills of grassroots individuals and groups, such as Ro-tary Community Corps, to ensure continuation of projects and activities.
Scholarships Scholarships may be funded by either district or global grants. District grants have no re-strictions on the level (university or graduate), length, or area of study. Districts may develop their own criteria for selecting scholars, determine the amount of the award, and support students attending lo-cal universities, as there is no international re-quirement. Global grants support international, graduate-level study related to an area of focus for one to four years. When submitting a global grant application for a scholarship, clubs or districts must provide proof of university admission for the prospective scholar. Applicants must also provide the Foundation with acceptable results from a Foundation-approved language test, if scholars are assigned to an institution that teaches in an official lan-guage different from their native language. The proof of admission and language-test results are not required when submitting the initial proposal.

The Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to
all concerned?
THE OBJECT OF ROTARY
The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enter-prise and, in particular, to encourage and foster-
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an
opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business
and professions; the recognition of the worthi-ness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service
in each Rotarian's personal, business, and com-munity life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
