Many thanks for your support in helping this year to grow the club have some fun along the way and above all to live up to the 4-way test of the things we Think Say and Do I am particularly thinking of the question Will it build good will and better friendships I was reminded of the importance of friendships by Al Walden at the installation dinner the other night Al said something to me about the evening and how it was going and added You know this is all fine but the real importance of Rotary is developing friends and the trust that goes along with being a friend And it is all about meeting people learning to work with others who may have a different work-style or direction and just learning to like people
I hope I have treated everyone with friendship and trust throughout this year and hope I can continue to do so in the future because I value you as my friends Thank you again for this unique opportunity to serve in a leadership role and for a wonderful year

Rotary is a global network of businesses professionals educators and community leaders Because of this we have established unique relationships and have built friendships that last a lifetime Since 1947 Rotary has sponsored the largest privately funded international scholarship program in the world As an organization we have contributed approximately 500 million dollars to 38000 students from 100 countries The funds raised have given the cultural ambassadors the resources and skills to help their peers and community
There are still 4 countries endemic to polio - Afghanistan India Nigeria and Pakistan which means more work has to be done to help Having Service projects that address the 5 Avenues of Service will ensure our club is pursuing the Object of Rotary We need to re evaluate the needs of our community to make sure these concerns are being addressed Service projects should provide an opportunity for every member to become involved Nowhere have I seen a club and community with such a strong volunteering spirit and high level of dedication With your help I will proudly lead Lake Placid Rotary through another great year of Service above Self
