th Anniversary Celebrations of Rotary Club Chandigarh Midtown

May 18, 2017 was a special day for Rotary Chandigarh Midtown as it was the 40th anniversary of our club, which was celebrated along with the official visit of District Governor Rtn. Raman Aneja, accompanied by gracious First Lady of the District R‟ann Meenu. We were also honoured with the presence of Assistant Governor (Zone - 2) Deepak Sood, Rotarians from nearby clubs including President Neenu Vij and Secretary Lalita Grover from Rotary Chandigarh, PDG Yoginder Diwan from Parwanoo, President Dr. V.D. Singh and Secretary Shyam Rawal from Chandigarh Shivalik, President Ravinder Garg from Chandigarh City Beautiful, President R.S. Cheema and Secretary Raman Malik from Chandigarh Central and President Harnek Singh from Kharar.

DG Raman Aneja addressed our Rotarians and spouses as his „smiling heroes‟. He spoke from his heart, and highly appreciated the activities of our club. In his mail to President Amarjit Singh, the DG said, “Meenu and I compliment you for organizing an outstanding meeting on our Official visit at your Club. Our heartiest congrats to all the Rotarians of RC Chandigarh Midtown on successfully completing 40 years of Service. I am very impressed and you have truly demonstrated leadership qualities. Your entire team was exceptionally superb. The involvement of every member was visible which we could see during our visit. You and your gracious spouse Sunita ji took care of us both and please convey our heartiest thanks for taking extra care of us during our stay.

DG Raman also complimented all our members for their contribution, time, money and thoughts, and for putting extra efforts to make our club a vibrant club of our District. He said the leadership quality of President Amarjit encouraged Rotarians of Chandigarh Midtown to support TRF, and expressed his belief that our club will achieve the target. The DG was impressed that in shortest time Amarjit got approval of Global Grant Project `Happy Schools‟ Global grant (GG # 1747695) of US$ 61,450 for converting 19 Schools of our District into happy schools. DG also thanked DRFC Chair PDG Shaju Peter and said, “He is my mentor and he means a lot to me.”

DG Raman made inspiring comments on our bulletin, “I found your club bulletin to be the best bulletin ever, so much knowledgeable and always on time every week. No wonder that is why you are awarded the best bulletin of the District.” He added, “That shows the great achievements and the good work done by your club are printed in your bulletin.”

Training program under Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM)

At Govt Model High School, Manimajra four courses under RILM Child Development were conducted by Rtn. Salil Chopra on goal setting and moral values for 160 students of the school. Chocolates and bournvita were also distributed. Principal Mr. Shashi Kumar highly appreciated the efforts of Rotary towards child development.

During this week we covered four programmes for four classes in Manimajra and one was conducted in Chandigarh Engineering College, Sector 26 on 18 May 2017 on great Bharatiye values. In all 26 courses have been held under RILM.
