Simon’s Town Patriots Interact Club

Mrs Jean Human, Principal of the Simon's Town School invited

various Volunteers to an Appreciation/ ‘Thank you' Tea Event

Party on Thursday 7 December in the Staff Tearoom at the

school.

The Rotary Club Cape of Good Hope, President Marge and PP

Bev Frieslich as Youth Director, were included in recognition

of our work with the Patriots Interact Club.

We had a great time and met some very interesting people

including Denzel Smit who told us he was a member of our

Rotary Club some years ago, so we invited him to visit us.

Seen here is Principal Mrs Jean Human, President Marge,

Denzel Smit and Bev Frieslich.

Wynberg Rotaract – Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party Project.

A number of our Club members again volunteered to assist Wynberg Rotaract

and the Rotary Club of Wynberg with the parking of the cars at Groot Constantia

where the Uncle Paul’s kiddies Xmas show is held every year.

Now some may say this is hard work, and I

admit that there are some rather rude

drivers (can you really understand that?? -

No!! It’s not on!!) which is disgraceful, but

over and above those few “rudies”, I have

it on good authority from Rtn Christine

who has volunteered to do something like

eight shifts this year, ( well done

Christine!!) that it really is quite easy and can be amusing and quite a lot of fun.

Thanks to Pres Marge and Fred, Susan, Christine and Bev, to whom we are

indebted for keeping our Club’s flag flying high. You are all SUPER STARS!!

Seen in the picture on the right is an example of what many self-respecting

Rotarians do after a stint of volunteering … have a glass of wine. This proves

the fact that doing parking duty at Uncle Paul’s is something we could and

possibly should ALL do next year??!!

DRIVING OUR SENIOR CITIZENS TO THE MASQUE

Marge Upfold, with the help of Fred Hammond, has been the champion of this service project for as long as I have

known her. Thanks to her dedication and commitment, our Senior Citizens are able to be transported – literally and figuratively, from Mez Wallach in Muizenberg, and Carlisle Lodge, Nerina Gardens and sometimes the Avenues in Fish Hoek, into the world of Theatre and entertainment. The final show this

month is FAME – the Musical Thanks to the band of regular drivers who give up an evening every month to drive the residents and ensure that they are served a cup of tea with a biscuit. Thanks to all – you are Super Stars!!! ******

MERRY XMAS TO YOU ALL Xmas messages: Firstly from our DG – Lynette Stassen

Then…. From President Marge: I would like to wish everybody a blessed Christmas and Happy Holidays to our

non-Christian members and a very successful Rotary 2018.

And… Your Editor and Scribe: As we head into the festive season and the year end, I would like to thank each of

you for another wonderful year of Rotary involvement. Wishing you and yours all the best and may 2018 be a year

of new beginnings in every sphere of our lives. But mostly may we be M.A.D = Making A Difference!!

And Finally……..A little story to start your Christmas season in the right spirit. When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure. Then, Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where.

When he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered. Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a glass of cider and a shot of rum. He went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the rum. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree.

The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?'

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree. Many do not know this!!
