Large tiled bay areas should be divided into smallersections in order to absorb substrate movementsand avoid cracks. Openings in the screed at regularspacing create the field limits . Movement andscreed joints will fill those gaps and compensatelight compression and sliding floor movements.Thanks to nice design and finsh (colours, materials) theywill be part of the decoration.

An expansion joint is an opening within a structureat predetermined locations, designed to absorbmovements of the structure.Movements are from different origins and may bedefined as follows :

- Thermal : caused by temperature changes within thestructure. Thermal movement is horizontal.

- Seismic : caused by earthquake activity beneath thestructure. Seismic movements are sudden, fast andmay be horizontal, vertical, shear or a combination ofall three.

- Windload induced: caused by high winds forcing thestructure to sway. Windload induced movement isnormally horizontal or shear.

A joint cover is a transition across an expansionjoint opening.It can be a simple cover or an insert in the openingengineered to fulfill a variety of additional functionswhich might include :

- fit a pre-determined opening size ;

- absorb thermal or seismic building movements ;

- be compatible with various surface finishes ;

- support a given load (floor conditions only)...3

Fire barriers

Flexible compression joints

Fire resistance : 4 to 6 hours according to models. High tem-

peratures and hot gases resistant.

Made :

from mineral fibres which are overbound with a glass fibre

yarn.

Applications :

- structural expansion openings in floors, walls and ceilings ;

- joint between precast panels of facades ;

- around pipeworks and ducts;

- between standing walls

Installlation:

Press the cord firmly by hand into opening thus avoiding any

discontinuity

Since expansion opening may expand on exposure to fire

heat, it is recommended to glue the filler between opposite

faces of the substrate using the fire resistant glue ref 048000

(50 g/lm)

Also availble with cord diameter up to 150 mm, please

contact us.

Advised 50 g/ml.

Synthetic rubber extruded sections for covering and sealing of joints

between exterior or interior building elements (concrete, steel, aluminium).

Replacement of old sealants for traditional or prefabricated construction.

Coulours: black, grey, beige
