Relevant Work History and ExperienceRE Mentor at the Harris Academy, Peckham. One day per week: January 2015-May 2015

• I volunteered as a mentor at the Harris Academy, working with a small group of GCSE pupils. I ran the group once every week with a group of pupils who needed extra help in RE in order to obtain their target grade.

• This gave me experience with a small group of pupils and an introductory experience of planning resources and materials for learning. I worked alongside the Head of Department to run sessions that were relevant to the course and tailored to the individual needs of students.

Volunteer with MyBigCareer, August, 2014

• I volunteered with MyBigCareer, a charity that aims to assist pupils get a place at university despite not getting the required grades. I worked in a school in East London on results day, calling universities and helping pupils research their options.

• This gave me an initial experience being in school and working with KS5 pupils. It was invaluable in that it inspired me to go on to apply for a place on a PGCE course.

120-hour TEFL Course, 2014• Online lessons incorporated grammar and vocabulary, classroom management skills,

and methodology when teaching English as a foreign language.

• Classroom training focused primarily on the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons with other students.

Gymnastics Coach, Stroud School, Romsey, 2009-2012• Worked at an after school gymnastics club for children between the ages of 7-17.

• Coached small groups independently and assisted with the individual development of certain children.

• Worked one to one with a Down’s syndrome child who benefited from a less structured session.

Volunteering in a Nepalese orphanage, 2012• Worked in an orphanage in Nepal whilst travelling in Asia.

• Involved in all aspects of the daily routine, including meal times, taking children to school and assisting with school work.

• Immersed into Nepalese culture through celebrating Holi with the orphanage.

Interests Fundraising • Raised money for charities including Bowel Cancer UK, Amnesty International and

Cancer Research UK using social media to raise awareness for different fundraising events

• Ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon and the Great South Run in aid of charity.

Heythrop Schola Cantorum • Commitment: practicing every week after lectures to maintain the high profile of the

college choir and travelling to different events in London to perform.

• Working with other members of the choir to arrange additional rehearsals to improve the choir prior to big events.
