About

Rose of York is an inviting and friendly English Language school in the centre of London. We have been providing excellent English language tuition since 1989.

Our primary mission is to help students to achieve excellence and proficiency in the use of English while ensuring students enjoy their time in London.

All of our staff members are very friendly and always happy and willing to help students. Similarly, the support staff are trained, experienced and informative.

The teachers are dedicated, qualified and experienced English teachers. They all have a passion and a desire to help students learn English in a fun and empowering way. The teachers develop courses that follow the syllabus as well as taking into account the needs of their students. As a result, Rose of York has been educating students successfully for many years.

About Rose of York Language School

In the early 1980’s a close-knit family, with a 15-year old daughter named Rose, made the brave move from York. They established a new and exciting language school in the heart of the bustling capital city, London. As citizens of the world, they had a dream to share the English language and English culture all around the world. Inspired by the talent and perseverance of their daughter, Rose, and the beauty, culture and tradition of York, they decided to combine these two concepts to form the name of the school – Rose of York. This combination in the heart of the multicultural city, that is London, has resulted in an exceptional language school that upholds British educational traditions.

The UK is generally a safe place with low levels of crime but whenever you travel to a new country, it is very important that you look after yourself. Our school, located on Oxford Street is safe, and has CCTV throughout the building, which is under surveillance by the Managing Director.

Booster ClassesBooster Classes are specifically designed, intensive classes that focus on a single skill. When learning English, students’ skills improve at different rates. So, students can devote more time to individual skills that they feel less confident in.

These classes are designed to supplement students’ study and to increase their learning potential by focussing on key areas of identified development. The Booster Classes are personalised and very useful.

The Booster Classes are: conversation, pronunciation, writing skills, business proficiency and exam skills. Students can choose their Booster Classes and prioritise them based on the needs identified by the students and their teacher. For example, if students feel like Pronunciation is their weak point, they can add a pronunciation Booster to their Standard Course to help them improve in this area.

AviationThe Aviation ESP is well suited to those working within the aviation industry as it focusses on preparing students for the ICAO Language Proficiency Tests and can be tailored to meet

the individual requirements of the class. Our Aviation ESP can be developed specifically for Pilots and ATC or Cabin Crew members. This course aims to give students the confidence they require to successfully work within the Aviation industry.

Homestay AccommodationStudents can stay in safe and secure homestay accommodation, with host families that have years of experience in welcoming students. All homestay hosts (including all adults in the household) have also passed strict safeguarding checks (this may include the Children’s Barred List and an Enhanced DBS – a criminal record check). Homestay accommodation is typically found in zones 1 to 4; Zone 4 is a quieter zone around London with excellent transport links to the city centre and to the school.

Residence AccommodationStudents can stay in safe and secure residence accommodation with 24-hour security. Residence accommodation is situated between Zone 1 and Zone 4. At Rose of York, we have numerous options available to our students. These range from Single rooms to self-contained studios. Student residences are great for students who are looking for a little more independence whilst still able to socialise and meet new people.

Making Friends Through LanguageA social events organiser, usually a teacher, always accompanies the students and takes pride in ensuring that everyone is involved and having a good time.
