Preparing for Operation

Usage
1. Being exposed to direct airflow for a long time may be hazardous to your health. Do not expose occupants, pets, or plants to direct airflow for a long time.
2. Due to the possibility of oxygen deficiency, ventilate the room when using the appliance together with stoves or other heating devices.
3. Do not use this air conditioner for non-specified special purpose (e.g. preserving precision devices, food, pets, plants, or art objects). Such use may damage your properties.
Cleaning and Maintenance
1. Do not touch the metal parts of the unit when removing the filter. Injury can occur.
2. Do not use water to clean inside the air conditioner. Exposure to water can destroy the insulation, leading to electric shock or effect product performance.
3. When cleaning the unit, first make sure that the power and breaker are turned off. The fan rotates at a very high speed during operation. There is a possibility of injury if the unit’s power is triggered while cleaning inner parts of the unit.

Dirty or clogged coils will reduce the operating efficiency of the system and cause higher operating costs.
Outdoor UnitThe heat exchanger coils and panel vents of the outdoor unit should be checked regularly. If clogged with dirt or soot, the heat exchanger and panel vents may be professionally steam cleaned.

Test used two chambers size 3.5m x 2.6m x 2.2m, the chamber with the LG air conditioner assumed to be inside (“inside chamber”) and the chamber without the LG conditioner assumed to be outside (“outside chamber”).
3Cages (25cm ) are placed inside each chamber, connected using netted sleeves to enable the movement of the mosquitoes from one cage to another.

For each test, 50 lab cultured 3-5 days old mosquitoes were placed in the cage in outside chamber; number of mosquitoes coming into the cage in inside chamber was counted every 10 minutes for 90 minutes under 2 settings:

PUMP DOWNThis is performed when the unit is to berelocated or the refrigerant circuit is serviced.Pump Down means collecting all refrigerant in theoutdoor unit without loss in refrigerant gas.
CAUTION:Be sure to perform Pump Down procedure with theunit cooling mode.
Pump Down ProcedureConnect a low-pressure gauge manifold hose to thecharge port on the gas side service valve.
Open the gas side service valve halfway and purgethe air from the manifold hose using the refrigerantgas.
Close the liquid side service valve(all the way in).
Turn on the unit's operating switch and start thecooling operation.
When the low-pressure gauge reading becomes 12
to 0.5kg/cmG(14.2 to 7.1 P.S.I.G.), fully close thegas side valve stem and then quickly turn off theunit. At that time, Pump Down has been completedand all refrigerant gas will have been collected inthe outdoor unit.

Air and moisture remaining in the refrigerantsystem have undesirable effects as indicatedbelow.
Operating current rises.
Cooling(or heating) efficiency drops.Moisture in the refrigerant circuit mayfreeze and block capillary tubing.
Water may lead to corrosion of parts in therefrigeration system.
Therefore, the indoor unit and tubing betweenthe indoor and outdoor unit must be leak testedand evacuated to remove any non condensablegas and moisture from the system.

ACheck that each tube(both liquid and gasside tubes) between the indoor andoutdoor units have been properlyconnected and all wiring for the test runhas been completed. Remove the servicevalve caps from both the gas and the liquidside on the outdoor unit. Note that both theliquid and the gas side service valves onthe outdoor unit are kept closed at thisstage.
BLeak testConnect the manifold valve(with pressuregauges) and dry nitrogen gas cylinder tothis service port with charge hoses.
Do a leak test of all joints of the tubing(bothindoor and outdoor) and both gas and liquid sideservice valves.
Bubbles indicate a leak. Be sure to wipe off thesoap with a clean cloth.
After the system is found to be free of leaks,relieve the nitrogen pressure by loosening thecharge hose connector at the nitrogen cylinder. When the system pressure is reduced to normal,disconnect the hose from the cylinder.

To avoid nitrogen entering the refrigerant system in aliquid state, the top of the cylinder must be higher than itsbottom when you pressurize the system. Usually, thecylinder is used in a vertical standing position.

Be sure to use a manifold valve for airpurging. If it is not available, use a stop valvefor this purpose. The 3-way valve must always be kept close.

Pressurize the system to maximum 250 P.S.I.G.(R-22 model) or 400 P.S.I.G. (R-410A model) with dry nitrogen gas and close the cylinder valve when the gauge reading reached 250 P.S.I.G. (R-22 model) or 400 P.S.I.G. (R-410A model). Next, stepis leak test with liquid soap.

DUse a recognized circuit breaker 20A (12K,18K),25A (24K) between the power sourceand the unit. A disconnecting device toadequately disconnect all supply lines mustbe fitted.
After the confirmation of the above conditions, prepare the wiring as follows:
Never fail to have an individual power circuit specifically for the air conditioner. As forthe method of wiring, be guided by the circuit diagram posted on the inside of controlcover.The screw which fasten the wiring in the casing of electrical fittings are liable to comeloose from vibrations to which the unit is subjected during the course oftransportation. Check them and make sure that they are all tightly fastened. (If theyare loose, it may cause burn-out of the wires.)Specification of power source.Confirm that electrical capability is sufficient.The starting voltage is maintained at more than 90 percent of the rated voltage marked on the name plate.Confirm that the cable thickness is as specified in the power source specification.(Particularly note the relation between cable length and thickness. (Refer to page 15))Always install an earth leakage circuit breaker in a wet or moist area.The following would be caused by voltage drop.
The means for disconnection from a power supply shall be incorporated in the fixedwiring and have an air gap contact separation of at least 3mm in each active(phase)conductors.
