The kids really have fun.

You can see the concentration on their faces.

The parents always want to help.

Special thanks go out to this year's volunteers: Ron Ainge, Rick Orr, Rick Fleming, Tom Tedesco, Jason Springfield, Warren Glover, Jerry Smith, and the coordinator Pete Holtus.

Mentoring August 16, Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Small bowl basics. Because of the limited number of lathes available, a sign up list will be available at the August 4 meeting.

Members will need to bring eye protection and their own tools (if they already own them).

Chucking, jamming, cutting and scraping techniques will be covered, sanding and finishing will be discussed.

Experienced volunteer mentors are both solicited and welcome.

Call Bruce for details, (303) 972 – 4716

Saturday August 16 Bruce will be doing a bowl turning demo at Rockler, upstairs, on the Jet Mini 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Note: If Rockler stocks an item, please purchase that item from Rockler at their 10% club discount. We owe that to Rockler for being a wonderful host to our club.

Club Library Great work by Bob Britt, Michael Busse, Richard Kuivila, Denise Newman, and Bob Olsen at the July meeting! Don Ainsworth shared that his current scheduling will allow him to assist with the Library only occasionally, so if anyone is interested in helping out in the Library, we could use one more person.

We sold 37 VHS tapes – many more still available (see on-line listing). Proceeds will be used to purchase updated materials for the Library.

Two members donated their 2009 Albuquerque AAW Symposium Handout Books to the Library, so these are now available for sign-out. Cindy Drozda’s Demo from May09 is also now available, along with Pete Holtus’s Demo from Jul09 and Jill Rice’s CD of photos from the 2009 Utah Symposium.

Regards,

Dave Hawley, FRW Librarian

Rockler Patronizing their store is the best “thank you” we can give Rockler for their generosity in letting us use their facilities for our ever-growing membership. Keep in mind that they keep the register open late on meeting nights just for us. Just be sure to complete any purchases no later than the mid-meeting break so these poor

guys can start shutting down and go home.

As always – all FRW members get 10% off all items, except electrical or sale items, all the time. Just present your FRW membership card at time of purchase. (Note: This offer is only good at the Denver retail location, and is not valid for any other location or for Internet purchases.)
