Club Library Great work by Bob Olsen, Don Ainsworth, and Michael Busse at the March meeting – it was a busy one, with 116 Library resources signed out, and almost as many signed in!

We had 36 new items last month! There will be fewer this month – spreading out the available budget – but watch for Malcolm Tibbett’s Segmented Woodturning Lessons on DVD and several new Jimmy Clewes DVDs as well as new magazines and last month’s demo DVD. Within 3-5 days before each meeting, download the PDF list, make the print larger on

your screen, and create your very own “wish list.”

Please take the time to check items out - we want to continue to operate based on trust. We do realize that members are human and make errors, but at the March meeting several items were removed from the Library without being signed out. If these items are not returned promptly, other members lose the opportunity to benefit from them. We cannot afford to replace missing items right away. If these losses continue, we may be forced to close off the video cabinet from member traffic, and watch the books and magazines more closely, making using the Library a little less enjoyable for both the Librarians and members.

One more request – please treat FRW Library DVDs as your own rather than as rentals. I just had the second DVD re-surfaced this year – it was so badly scratched that it took four passes to get it to work again (was heavily scratched on the shiny side, and was skipping and erratic). Re-surfacing costs money – again an unnecessary burden on our Library budget – and it takes the DVD out of circulation for a month while it is being re-surfaced!

Regards,

Dave Hawley, FRW Librarian

Group Purchases and Individual Catalog Orders Please see the FRW website for the Group Purchases and Individual Catalog Orders rules. Copies are also available at the Group Purchase table before meetings. Please make checks payable to Roger Holmes for Craft Supplies and Woodcarvers Supply group purchases. Make checks for CA Glue and Sanding Disks payable to Del Fussell. To participate in Individual Catalog Orders sign up on the sheets that are passed around at each meeting.

Group Buy Schedule: Group purchase orders will be taken at the monthly meetings in January, April, July and October.

Group Buy Coordinator Contact Information: Roger Holmes – 1844 W. Plum Cir., Louisville, CO 80027 - 303-665-8041 - [email protected]

Del Fussell – 11455 N. Antelope Ln., Parker, CO 80138 - 303-805-2663 - [email protected]

Note: If Rockler stocks an item, please purchase that item from Rockler at their 10% club discount. We owe that to Rockler for being a wonderful host to our club.

Featured Providers Rocklers, Colorado Blvd, Denver, provides a 10% discount for club members – see the Rockler section on page 6. Rockler will be keeping the cash register open until the end of the meeting break. Try to do your shopping before the end of the break, so that they can get out quickly after the end of the meeting.

Wood Emporium, Loveland, provides a 10% discount for FRW members.

Craft Supplies offers monthly deals with special discount codes that expire monthly. Discounts and codes will be announced at each FRW meeting.

Paint and Lacquer Co. 2705 S. Raritan Street (South of Evans, East of Federal) has a wholesale cash account setup for FRW members to buy finish, glue and sandpaper at wholesale prices. Show them your membership card and mention the FRW account. 303-761-0743.

Miscellaneous Courtesy During Meetings Please stay seated and quiet during the meeting and demonstration as a courtesy to our demonstrators and fellow members. If you feel the need for conversation during the meeting or demonstration, please feel free to step out into the Rockler store.

Also, we must make sure to return promptly after the break to make sure we don’t lose time for our demonstrator.

Shop Tours Please contact Marty Christensen, [email protected], if you would be interested in hosting a shop tour of your shop. You would not need any formal presentation or demonstration unless you would like to. Most members would just like to see how you organize your shop, store equipment and supplies, see any jigs you made or special tools you’ve made, see some of your turnings and just shoot the breeze in general. It's really kind of fun. You would be surprised to know how much new members appreciate just talking woodturning and getting to know each other. Try it - you will enjoy it and so will those who come.v

Mentoring Program The mentoring program is design to bring seasoned turners together with new comers or those who need help working around a challenge. Please contact Bruce Perry if you would be interested in either volunteering your time or to take advantage of the mentoring program. Bruce Perry – [email protected]

Rockler Patronizing their store is the best “thank you” we can give Rockler for their generosity in letting us use their facilities for our ever-growing membership. Keep in mind that they keep the register open late on meeting nights just for us. Just be sure to complete any purchases no later than the mid-meeting break so these poor guys can start shutting down and go home.

As always – all FRW members get 10% off all items, except electrical or sale items, all the time. Just present your FRW membership card at time of purchase. (Note: This offer is only good at the Denver retail location, and is not valid for any other location or for Internet purchases.)

If you have suggestions for tools or materials that Rockler can carry, contact Rich Johnson, manager of the Denver store. Rockler web site: www.rockler.com.
