What do tribulations produce?
The word perseverance transliterates as hypomone which means, “one who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings.” Though we often think tribulations will knock us off course, they actually enable us to learn to stay the course.

3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;
