5TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
For most of us, Jesus does not come in dramatic and
miraculous ways and ask us to follow him, but in the
ordinary events of daily living. The gospel invites us
to look at the simple ways we live the gospel
message. We see faithful followers of Jesus living out
his teaching in the generosity of so many volunteers,
in the faithfulness of husbands and wives, in the
sacrifices of parents for their children, in the
unselfishness of pastoral care ministers, in the
uncomplaining suffering of the sick, and in the
gracious wisdom of the elderly. Living the paschal
mystery means we respond to God in these everyday
things. We are all made worthy because God calls us.
WORLD MARRIAGE DAY
World Marriage Day is an observance sponsored by
the Worldwide Marriage Encounter Association, and
is associated with the Catholic Marriage Encounter
movement. It is observed each year on the second
Sunday in February. World Marriage Day honors
husbands and wives as the foundation of families,
which are the basic building block of a well ordered
society. It salutes the beauty of their faithfulness,
sacrifice, and joy in daily married life.
