VISION STATEMENT: As the people of St. Francis de Sales Parish, it is our hope that, inspired by the Spirit, we may come to know the unconditional love of God. In our joys and sorrows, in the midst of trust and fear, may we continue to grow into a more loving and welcoming community founded in prayer and good works. PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK: Holy Communion will be ministered by appointment to those confined to home. Contact the Rectory Office to schedule a visit by one of our Eucharistic Ministers. Those who are dangerously ill should request a priest for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. BECOMING A CATHOLIC: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which adults are fully initiated into the Catholic faith community and receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Phone the Rectory Office for further information. PARISH REGISTRATION: Please visit the Rectory Office to complete a census card. Welcome! We look forward to meeting you and having you participate in the life of our Parish Family.

34TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
THE SOLEMNITY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE
Praise be to Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe! This weekend we celebrate the great solemnity of Christ the King, which is the last Sunday before we begin a new liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent. This past liturgical year has been like no other. We have continued to celebrate the sacraments during the COVID19 pandemic, even if that meant streaming masses online and wearing masks in church. With all the challenges we have faced, perhaps we have come to a new understanding of what it means to be "Church". We have had to adapt to changing times and state regulations. At the same time we have seen turbulence in our world in the form of racial unrest, feuding political ideologies, and a controversial election. Through it all we look to Christ as our King, the ruler of our lives. As we look to the future, we hope that this next church year brings with it some return to "normalcy".
This week we celebrate Thanksgiving Day. Again, it will be a Thanksgiving like no other before. But it remains a day on which we give thanks for our blessings as families, as individuals, and as a nation. "Eucharist", the celebration that is at the center of our faith, is a word that means "thanksgiving". On this Thanksgiving Day I hope you can join in our Thanksgiving Day mass on Thursday, November 26 at 9:00am, either in person or at home as we stream the mass online. Usually the various faith communities of Patchogue come together for an Interfaith Thanksgiving prayer service. The service will not be held this year in one of our churches or synagogues, but the Interfaith clergy have recorded their Thanksgiving messages which have been collected in one video presentation. I encourage you to view the video by going to our parish website at www.stfrancispatchogue.com.
To all of you, your families, and extended circle of family and friends, on behalf of Msgr. Pat, the deacons, and the staff and volunteers of St. Francis de Sales I would like to wish you a peaceful, safe, and happy Thanksgiving Day.
Praise be to Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe!
