Readings for September 20th

First Reading: Isaiah 55:6-9Isaiah expresses an urgent plea that all should seek the Lord and turn to him for mercy.

Second Reading: Philippians 1:20c-24, 27aIn a strongly personal message from Paul while in prison, he says that he wishes “to be freed from this life and to be with Christ,” but he real-izes that he still has much important work to do.

Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16aJesus tells the parable of the owner of an estate who hires workmen for his vineyard. When, at the end of the day, he pays a full day’s wage to those who worked only one hour, those who worked all day com-plained bitterly. But the owner says, “I am free to do as I please, am I not?” Jesus reminds us through this parable that “the last shall be first and the first shall be last.”

Prayer & Worship

The Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal

Join us every Saturday morning at the 8:00 am Mass as we pray this traditional Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Catherine Laboure

in 1830 and requested the creation of the medal which came to be known as the Miraculous medal.

Our Mother of Perpetual Help Wednesday’s at 5:30 pm

Come join us every Wednesday at 5:00 pm for the Rosary and at 5:30pm as we pray the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help.

All are welcome!

Join us for the Novena to St. Michael

Beginning on September 21st at the 8:00 am Mass

for 9 days until the Feast Day of the Archangels

St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael on September 29th

St. Michael (“Who is like God?”) is the archangel who fought Satan. He is the pro-tector of all humanity and reminds us of the real existence of the devil and of demonic activity. For protection from the snares of the devil, it is good to have recourse to St. Michael. St. Gabriel (“Strength of God”) announced to Zechariah the birth of John the Baptist; and to Mary, the birth of Jesus. His greeting to the Virgin, “Hail, full of grace,” is one

of the most familiar and frequent prayers of the Church. St. Raphael (“Medicine of God”) is the archangel who took care of Tobias on his journey. Every person on his or her pilgrimage through this life also has a guardian angel with a mission similar to that of Raphael. This feast is sometimes called “Michaelmas.”

Holy Hour to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 pm

The prayers and dedication to the Sacred Heart is an ancient tradition that Catholics observe once a month before First

Friday. We will be offering these prayers and reparation the protection of our country and our leaders.

There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction, Rosary, Litany to the Sacred Heart and music. Come pray for our country!!

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire

and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated

from You. Amen.

Eucharist means thanksgiving. When we go to Mass we are offering God a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for all that He has done for us and all that He continues to do. In a special way Eucharistic Adoration is also a prayer of thanksgiving. When you find it difficult to pray or do not know what to say to God why not count your blessings? Try to think about the ways God has blessed you today, in this week, in this year. Once you begin to recognize the many ways God is already blessing you, your heart will overflow

Our Parish

Stewardship Corner

“So the last will be first and the first last.” (Matthew 20:16) You’ve heard the saying “It’s not where you start, but how you finish.” This certainly applies to this Bible passage. We have a responsibility not only for our own lives, but for the lives of others as well. We are called to generously share our gifts with others, not hoard them for our own use. Our sincere gratitude and cheerful generosity will help us live “God-centered” lives and not “self-centered” lives.

Are you, or someone you know, interested in becoming a Catholic?

The RCIA is a program for those interested in studying to become Catholic or those baptized Catholics who have yet to receive the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.

If you or someone you know is interested in finding out more about the program,

please join us or call Dolores Wright (908-782-1359) or [email protected] for additional information.

Due to the COVID Pandemic, Mass Intentions will not be done in person at the Parish Office. All Mass Intentions will be processed by visiting our website and clicking Mass Intentions, your payment will be processed online. You may also request a Mass intention by filling out a form. The form and payment can be mailed to the Parish Office or dropped off at the mailboxes located outside our doors. The Mass cards if requested will be mailed to you. No request will be taken prior to October 1st.

Please note that due to the Mass Book being filled last year early, and in fairness to all persons seeking Masses, there will be a limit of 2 Mass Intentions per family. Please note that Mass Intentions are on a first come basis. As per Canon Law there will be only 1 Mass Intention read at each Mass. We will not be accepting 2nd Intentions until the 2021 Mass book as been filled. Those Intentions will not be read at our Mass but will be celebrated at Mt. Saint Mary Seminary.

The 2021 Mass Intention Book will be available

on Thursday, October 1st

As we approach the November Elections, we will be putting helpful articles and links in our bulletin to help you make a sound decision on November 3rd.

Bishop Robert Barron’s THE SACRAMENTS

Through the seven sacraments of the Church, Jesus is present, ministering to his people -

healing, nourishing, and anointing them. These seven holy sacraments are not just symbols of

Christ, they are encounters with him. We invite you to learn more about the sacraments with

the Bishop Robert Barron study, THE SACRAMENTS.

St. Magdalen de Pazzi will be offering this seven-session video-based study program both in virtual

and in-person formats, following all the recommended social distancing guidelines. If you are

comfortable coming to the church, please join us! If you would rather stay home and join in via your

computer, that will be an option, too. We will still use the facilitator/group discussion format.

Whether or not you have previously taken a Bible study course, this will be interesting and engaging!

We will hold this one study at two times – Sunday evenings and Monday mornings. Sunday evening

sessions will begin on October 4, 2020 at 7:00 pm. Monday morning sessions will begin on October

5, 2020, at 10:00 am. Sessions run approximately 90 minutes.

The $20 fee includes the workbook. Please return your enrollment form and $20 fee in an envelope

(attn: Ed Pictroski) to the mailbox outside the Parish Center office, drop it in the weekly collection

basket, or mail it to Ed Pictroski at 9 Country Club Drive, Ringoes, NJ 08551. In-person attendees

will pick up their books at the first session. Virtual session attendees will receive an email with infor-

mation on where to pick up their books.

Look for information and registration forms on the parish website, at www.stmagdalen.org.
