The Disc.

Each die-cu t disc is po lished to a glossy surfa ce smoothness of three micro­inches. Increased di sc life and resul tant data rel iabil ity are tangibl e benefits of the meti cul ous ca re taken in producing the disc itse lf. Every disc beg ins as a pi ece of tough polyester base film to which a proprietary gamma ferri c ox ide is appli ed in environmenta ll y-controlled clean rooms under rigorous , constantl y monitored co nditi ons. Before being die ­cut into individual di scs the material is uniformly coated and then surface treated .

The Jacket.

As superbly manufactured as the d isc is, the disc 's quali ty is meaningless unless matched by the quali ty of th e jacket. The jacket is the co ntainer that houses the disc for its entire operational life. Memorex quality for these two components matches exactl y.

Chosen for its ability to absorb minute foreign pa rti c les that could ca use errors, the liner material is carefully instal led to snugly envelop the disc. Thus, the liner constantly c leans and cushions the disc during its operatio n.

Our proprietary coatin g formulati on has superior cohesive properti es which redu ce sheddi ng of the oxide coating and se lf- generat ing debris, and assure greater data reliabi lity.

Memorex's unique pattern of bonding the li ner to the jacke t enhances the wipi ng and cl ea ning action of the liner. Super ior cl eaning and mini mizing of debris mean greater data reliability.

When the disc is fle xed, special st ress rel ief notches on the edge of the Markette jacket prevent crease damage The disc is protected- and so is the data stored on the d isc.

The Testing.

Media durabil ity . Magnetic pa rameters. Signa l leve ls. Noise . Drop-outs. Modu­lation. Resolu tion. These are just some of the items on a long checklist us ed to rigorously test Ma rkette flex ible discs.

The Packaging.

Ease of operation and protecti on for th e product are the two keys to our product packag ing. The standard Markette fl exib le disc package is a crush-resistant, des ktop box that houses 10 discs. Ou r crush-res istant box offers conve ni ent fili ng and storage of Markettes . Color-coded labels and tabbed envel opes with ca re and han ­dling information are all part of the packag e. Each jacket exteri or has a plainly visible arrow to show the correct directi on to insert the Markette on the drive. Thi s improves operatin g efficiency.

What counts is what is delive red. A Markette flexibie disc you can be su re is 100 percent error- free when you get it , because we test each track of each Markette-indivi dua ll y- to the most stri nge nt specifica ti ons in the indust ry. Our Markettes deliver increased data reliab ility, cons isten t performance and effective eq uipme nt util izat ion.

To prevent accidentally writ ing over ex isting data on a disc, a write-protect feature is available on most of our Markettes . To faci litate re-writ ing , write-enable labels are also prov ided. The result? A product that is human­engineered for co nveni ent use, improved eff iciency, reduced proced ural er ro rs and the sa fety and security of the di sc and data .
