Inside this issue: Good morning from Afghanistan, We conduct aerial resupply missions all over Afghani-stan and SGT McGraw has connected us to you by way of these wonderful care packages he wanted us to airdrop to soldiers in remote locations. We are extremely honored to be an additional way of getting your support and American spirit to the front lines. We thought you might enjoy the picture of your care packages before being taken to the skies and airdropped to our men and women in uniform. We will try and get pics from the guys in the field if able. Again, thanks for your support! Respectfully Tony Silva LCLA/TACOPS, Flightworks, Inc. Bagram Air Base

R.G.H.O.A. News By Harry Wiggins President Hi Folks, as of today August 20th I still have nothing to report on the Park Renovations and improvements. However I can only hope that when information is available it will be for-warded to the residents. I apologize if anyone feels I've been misleading you. I can only assure you that the Board and I are doing our best to work with Management to improve our quality of life and we will continue to do so. Again, I ask for your patience. I know that rumors are flying about and it is very upsetting for many of you and only adds stress to your lives. I am proud to be a resident of Rolling Greens and I will continue to do all I can to make us all proud to be living here. Thank you.

FMO (Federation of Manufactured Home Owners of Florida)
The FMO meetings for the balance of 2013 and begin-ning of 2014 will all be held on the fourth (4th) Wednesday of each month at 1 PM. Notices will be sent to each community with the location and topic to be discussed at the meetings. SEPTEMBER MEETING SCHEDULED Please mark your calendar for September 25th at 1 PM for the first meeting to be held at the Saddle Oak Club located on State Road 200 just 2 miles west of I-75 across from the Publix Shopping Center. YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS THIS MEETING! QUESTION: When you purchased your home, did you receive a PROSPECTUS along with the closing papers? This is one of the most important documents you should have. And, if you do not have one from the previous owner or the real estate agent, you will want to find out how to get one – or, if you do already have one, plan to bring it with you. This will be a very educa-tional meeting for everyone since your FMO leaders wants you to be aware of all the helpful and critical information found within this document. H.O.A. VISITS PLANNED Your FMO District President and Vice President will be attend-ing HOA meetings at various communities in Marion County beginning in October to bring all the benefits of FMO member-ship and how important it is to manufactured home owners in the Florida. If you have any questions about FMO, contact your Dis-trict 13 President, Bob Bull, at 352-237-0877.

Joanne (Kuchman) Jensen Rochester/Ocala: August 14, 2013, at age 75. She is sur-vived by three children, Kenneth Jensen, Timothy (Suzanne) Jensen and Debra Jensen; two grandchildren, Madeleine and Jack. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold "Joe" Jen-sen; and brother, Robert Kuchman. Joanne was a long time resident of Rochester and Ocala. As a younger woman, she was a Red Cross swimming instruc-tor for many years, and a secretary for St. John the Evangelist School in Greece, NY. Joanne was an avid bowler in Rochester and Ocala, scoring many series over 600, and a high series of 721. She also enjoyed camping and fishing every summer in the Thousand Islands. Her memorial mass was held on Mon, Aug 19 at St. Mary's Church in Canandaigua NY. Internment will be with her husband at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua. Condolences may be offered at www.johnsonkennedy.com
Area 1 Helen Tague 624-3922 Area 1 Director Labor Day: became a federal holiday in 1894 under President Grover Cleveland. The purpose was to honor the social and economic achievements of the American worker. It was celebrated by street parades to show the public the strength of the trade and labor organizations, followed by a festival for the workers and their families. Over the past century, many changes have replaced the original concept of the holiday: big retail sales day; symbolic end of summer; cookouts; the startup of Fall sports. Wikipedia I asked a question in last month’s article “what I did this summer”. I guess that was too much like show and tell as the response was very sparse. Well I hope you stayed cool and well. Our regular homeowner’s association meeting will be starting again on Tuesday September 10. Board meeting Sep-tember 9. These meetings are pushed back a week because of the Labor Day holiday. Hope to see you there. Please keep in mind that there will be a health fair on Saturday October 26 from 9 am to 2 pm at the North Club-house. It will be officially known as the 2nd Annual Mary Rosonski Health Expo. Mary, who lived on Killarney, was the first chairman. She passed away last January. See you in the neighborhood.

14 June 2013 Subject: 1-22 IN BN Chaplain Thanks Operation ShoeBox
I would like to personally thank you for your generous gifts to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment currently serving overseas at Camp Buehring, Kuwait. We are a combined arms battalion stationed out of Ft. Carson, CO and are “on ground” in support of Operation Spartan Shield.
I am the battalion chaplain, and we recently received the many boxes of packages that you sent to us out here. We could not believe the amount of items that you sent! In fact, it was both exciting and humbling to see box after box being unloaded from the mailroom.
We truly appreciated your patriotism and generosity. The type of items that you sent: (Packaged snacks, candy, hygiene items, socks, and etc.) were spot on for what Soldiers readily use. In fact these items are the most requested and in demand. Our Sol-diers genuinely enjoyed the gifts from Operation ShoeBox and every Soldier in the battalion that wanted a bag was able to get one!
You may want to check us out on facebook under “Regulars by God.”
Thanks again for your gifts - Regulars, by God! Deeds, not words!

W.H.O. By Pat Murphy
Come One! Come All! Everyone is welcome! It is time for W.H.O. (Women Helping Others) to begin their Fall Season. Fall as designated by the calen-dar and not the heat and humidity! W.H.O. is a group of women who have dedicated themselves to helping those in our community, in Rolling Greens and in the wider com-munity of Ocala If you don' t know which end of the needle to thread, or what those two pointy sticks are used for, or heaven forbid, what that thing with the hook on one end is for.,, then let me tell you W.H.O is for EVERYONE. Even if you say “I am to old, (or too young) to learn anything new." Well, come for the fellowship. As we used to say in the "olden days" LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL! We meet every Wednesday, from 1 pm until 3 pm....in the clubhouse behind the offices....(just in case, like me, you can't remember if that is north, south, east or west. The first meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 11th.

Cost of membership is $20 and entitles the player to play each Tuesday morning . The league plays until the last Tuesday in April. You must also be a mem-ber of the Golf Course and the Rolling Greens Golf Association and have an established handicap. We are a group of ladies who enjoy the game and friendships that are made. So if you do enjoy the game of golf, come on out and join us!!! Looking forward to seeing all returning and new members. Come on down no later than 8:15 to sign in to tee off at 8:30 AM. The Midwest Club
By Charlotte Dantzman Well...we had another fabulous evening in Paradise (The Midwest Club) on August 10th. There were hamburgers and hotdogs grilled by our resident chefs plus corn on the cob done up by our “Master” corn griller, Bill Lynch. The 55 members and guests attending also enjoyed all the delicious side dishes and desserts they provided. No one went away hungry, that’s for sure. Guests for the evening were Joe Huizar, Judy Goffe, Ann & Joe Quinlivan, Paul Velandra, Simone Cote, Steve & Teresa, Darvin & Jim Puglise. August birthdays were celebrated by Iris Beck, Jamie Blumke, Don Kosier, Gary Meyers, Terri Meyers, Tammy Pen-nington, Lana Senge, Ellie Wiegand and Christina Clifford. August wedding anniversaries were celebrated by Rich & Kathy Allen, Mike & Barbara Critchfield, and Gary & Terri Meyers. Congratulations to all !!! The evening would not have been complete without our famous 50/50 drawing. There were five $10.00 winners. On September 14th we will be enjoying a $6.00 per per-son BBQ rib dinner grilled to perfection by our in house staff. Side dishes and desserts will be provided by members and guests. Don’t forget to bring your plates, eating utensils and what ever refreshments that “yank your crank”. There will be sign up sheets in all the club houses with a cut off date of Sep-tember 8th. Don’t forget to bring a few extra bucks for the 50/50 drawing. You could be a big winner! See Ya!!!

Vietnam Veterans of America
By Rich Allen Please come join us. Our Chapter is open to all Vets who served from the summer of 1964 to the spring of 1975. You did NOT have to serve in country. There is no length of time you needed to serve during that period, just 1 day will make you eligible. If you were in country, from March 1961 you are also eligible to join. We are only 5 members away from making a Rolling Greens Chapter. The State organization is hoping to attend our October meeting, so it is very important that we have a good turnout in September to make sure we have enough signatures and posi-tions filled for them. Our next meeting will be September 5th at 6:30 in the NCH. If you know of any Vietnam Vet in or outside the park please invite to attend our September meeting.

R.G.H.O.A. Board Minutes Board Meeting of Rolling Greens Homeowners Association of Ocala, Inc. Board Meeting of August 2013 The meeting was called to order at 3:30pm by the Presi-dent Harry Wiggins, followed by the pledge of allegiance and the board prayer. The secretary’s report for the July meeting was accepted as read. The Treasurer’s report for the month of July was ac-cepted as read. President Harry Wiggins read a thank you card from the family of Larry Bruner. He also announced that the rummage sale will now be a memorial to Larry Bruner. He also men-tioned the passing of Frank Parker, and there will be a memo-rial service at the Fl. National Cemetery in Bushnell, with de-tails to follow. He mentioned that there will be a meeting be-tween the Area Directors and Newby Management probably once a month, and that last Thursday was the first meeting. Area 1 Director Helen Tague let us know that manage-ment has done some improvements to the roads, fencing around the pump area, among others. She is also setting up meetings with the committee for the Health Fair in October. Area 2 director Mary McCarthy expressed her thoughts on the meeting, that it was cordial and informative. Area 3 Director Gary Underwager expressed his thoughts on the meeting also, and that he is staying positive on more improvements to come. Area 4 Director Karen Reagle said she discussed some issues with management, namely situations at the West Club-house. And that the mowers can't baffle the chutes because of the loads of grass that it would leave behind. Also, everyone should know where their main water cutoff’s are. President Wiggins went over the scheduled upcoming events for the next few months. And the details will be in the news letter and web. Nancy Smallwood let us know that Henderson Smiley is doing well, is cancer-free, and has gained weight, and he has a larger garden up there. Rob Henderson wanted to thank the board for their sup-port and for letting the church use the equipment. A motion was made to adjourn, seconded and approved at 4:10 pm. Respectfully submitted, Bob Senge Secretary

Residents Speak Hello Residents: I want to draw your attention to post-ing notes and notices for work on the club house boards. I have noticed that people from outside this community are posting notices for employment including care giving services to our elderly in the home. I want to caution all resident's on how serious this can be, especially as today I noticed a note with a first name, tele-phone number and wanting to work for $10.00 an hour taking care of a resident. I have noticed other notes such as lawn care, sewing, shopping, banking, what ever one finds available espe-cially in times such as these. Please DO NOT ALLOW ANY ONE IN YOUR HOME, GIVE YOUR TELEPHONE NUM-BER OR HIRE ANYONE ESPECIALLY ONE WHO AD-VERTISES FROM OUT SIDE THE COMMUNITY. Today, with all the reported and more are unreported scams because in the community one does not know the process of checking references. police and adult abuse back ground checks, license, skills and today when one is fired from a job they don't have to report that either. It is possible to get your self involved in a money scam and also when you’re alone you have no way to protect yourself. I am a nurse with many years in community and health care working with home health agencies and various state agencies. I am at this time one of the Marion County volunteer Ombudsman who visit facilities to check on the elderly. I have also in the past investigated on behalf of the elderly abuse and neglect and found many such incidents as described. If you think you need to hire outside assistance for how-ever long and you don't work with a social worker referred by your doctor, I will be happy to recommend a path for you to find competent help medically or not in your home. If you or your family would like a full and competent home assessment I will be happy to help. Just let me know. Before ending, I am suggesting to persons in charge to con-sider a rule that anyone desires to freely post on our boards please come to the office to get identified and find out if it is okay. Our elderly have the right to protection and safety in this community. We likely will not know how many scams have gone unreported in our community. Harriet Brinker, RN,BSN/Ombudsman Marion County 352-624-0913
Residents Speak Hello Rolling Greens Residents and Staff. I have been from time to time and more recent horrified to witness young children (grandchildren) actually behind the wheel of golf carts with the adult sitting next to the child and directing the child how to steer. Because, it is foreseeable that a tragedy with injuries and death can happen I will share a few experiences. Pebble Beach off Cherry Rd. A 9 year old boy in golf cart behind the wheel, I pulled up next to the cart stopping the cart. I explained to the grand parent it is illegal for a child to drive a golf cart with out a license and I am concerned for the safety of your grand child. To my surprise the grand parent held up and showed me his two fingers. I then said, I am not moving until that child is sitting in your seat. That did happen so I took off. About two weeks ago witnessed while coming out of the North Club House a child with grandparent. Child behind the wheel and grand parent directing the child turn here, turn there. Killarney Ct., Golf Cart with a 7 year old behind the wheel. I stopped on the street as I was out front of my house. I asked how old and was told 7 years old. explained and grand parent stated I did not realize that child could not drive a cart. I am recommending to the person in charge of this com-munity before sending a copy to the Sheriff office to have signs posted not to allow children to drive golf carts. I believe it re-quires a license just like an automobile. Please!! You have now been put on notice. Harriet Brinker/Rolling Greens Resident
Lets get Away All Resident' including part timers please let me know as I am considering planning a wonderful week-end away perhaps in January or February, 2014. It likely will be not longer than a 4 hour drive by chartered bus. I am talking to a friend who has a reputable travel agency in Ocala and has visited our commu-nity is liked by everyone she met very much. I understand there are trips of travel planned with this agency from our residents. However, after the holiday, the two months before leaving to go back home would be a fun thing for our community to pack a small bag, jump on the bus and whirl away over the border for a joyous and fun loving week-end. I would like to hear a yes or no and how many are interested at this time. Many an-tique shops of noted fame is the only hint given. Contact: Har-riet Brinker, 352-624-0913 or [email protected] and select a month. Love hearing from you all. Pretty quiet, boring and very hot in Florida. Harriet: On the corner of Killar-ney and Lakewood.
