Rollarc type 400withdrawable onhorizontal support

The Rollarc 400 contactor is thebasic device, without equipmentother than the closingelectromagnet and the auxiliarycontacts.It is intended for contractorsqualified to equip it with thedevices...

... necessary for its operation(insulation, LV sockets, positionindicator, etc.) and for the safety ofuser personnel.It is maintained in the closedposition by the continuallysupplied electromagnet holdingcoil.

Rollarc type 400Dwithdrawable onhorizontal support

The Rollarc 400 D contactorwith latching mechanism is ident-ical to the 400 type contactor, butis fitted with a mechanical latchingmechanism with shunt release.It opens due to temporary supplyof the release.

An auxiliary contact prevents itfrom being supplied when thedevice is ”open”.

The devices are dispatched in theopen position ”O” with the operatingmechanism ”uncharged”.H Store the devices in theiroriginal packing.

The place of storage must be adry, ventilated room, shelteredfrom rain, water splashes andchemical agents.

H Protect the devices by coveringthem with an awning or with anenclosure providing effectiveprotection from dust, gravel, paint,etc.

The 400 type contactor is designedto carry out 300 000 operations,without maintenance of live parts (100000 operations for the 400 D type) innormal conditions of use as perstandard IEC 265.The following are recommended:Replacement of the LV printedcircuit and the auxiliary contactunit every 100 000 operationsAt least once a year:H carry out overall externalcleaningH smear low temperature greaseon the bearings, thrust bearingsand rod assembly of the trippingdevice in event of blowing of thehigh voltage fuses.

At least twice a year:or every 20 000 operations, smearlow temperature grease onH the two guides of theelectromagnet magnetic circuitH the moving part of the auxiliarycontactsH the latching deviceof type 400 DH When disassembling, hold thedevice in position as long asthe 4 fixing screws are not lockedin place.H In the event of very frequentoperations or an extremelycorrosive environment, contactthe closest Schneider Electricgroup service centre.

The pressurised SF6 gasinside the pole retains all itsdielectric properties after breaking.Electrical durability is limited bycontact wear.This wear depends on device use.We draw your attention to the riskof cleaning processes. consistingof spraying solvents at highpressure.

The main drawbacks of suchprocesses are.H damage due to jet pressure andimpossibility of re--- lubricatinginaccessible fixing points.H risk of overheating due tosolvent presence on contact areas.H elimination of specialprotections.

CAUTION

Never use solvents and alcohol.

If the insulating parts are dusty, itis recommended that you removethe dust using a dry cloth.

checking arcingcontact wearcheckNote:the Rollarc is able to break100 000 times its nominal breakingcapacity which is 400 A.In event of frequent operation or ofrepeated short---circuit current breaks,the user can check contact wearwithout disassembling the contactor.

Disconnect the contactorand remove the ground screen.

Unscrew the two nylstop nuts.

Remove the metal and Neoprenewashers and replace them...

...with counternuts (∅14 mm) orwith washers (approx. 8 mm thick)which will act as spacers.


In the place of the nylstop nuts(so as not to weaken them), screwon standard nuts C ( ∅12 mm).

Connect an indicator lamp Dor a “ bell ” between the input andoutput connections of pole no. 1.

Screw on simultaneously the twonuts C until lighting of the lamp orthe bell.

Measure the air gap of the coilsusing a thickness gauge.Record this measurement.Proceed in the same way for poles2 and 3.If, for one or more measurements,the air gap value is less than orequal to 3 mm, the contactor mustbe replaced (on a new device, theair gap is 5.1 mm +0.5).

For reassembly,remove the standard nuts...

...reassemble the washers and theoriginal Nylstop nuts (do notassemble and disassemble theNylstop nuts more than twice).


adjustment With the contactor open,insert a 12.4 mm thick shim intothe air gap.Simultaneously tighten the 2Nylstop nuts until theelectromagnet touches the shim.Slightly loosen the nuts so that theshim can slide freely in the air gapof the two coils.

SF6 gas recoveryconformity rules

The SF6 must be removed beforeany dismantling operation can becarried out in compliance with theprocedures described inIEC---61634 and accordiing to thefollowing instructions.The gas must be treated incompliance with IEC---60480.
