Vision: St Columba College seeks to nurture in its students and the community a close relationship

with God, a passion for living, and a lifelong love of learning.

Mission: Provide students with outstanding learning and academic outcomes, and support students

to experience God’s love, as embodied within our Anglican and Catholic traditions.

Philosophy: St Columba College invites students to dream about the future, set their goals high,

and to engage in the effort and focus required to achieve. We provide an environment focused on

outstanding teaching and learning, which motivates students to develop knowledge, skills, personal

beliefs and values. Students are respected as capable learners. We offer students opportunities to

develop their spirituality through immersion in a rigorous academic program and engagement in our

Anglican and Catholic traditions. We support students to develop their understanding of Christianity and

of God’s personal love, which we hope inspires them to be role models in our world – a sign of hope for

others.

Introduction

St Columba College, Munno Para Inc, is a separately incorporated R-12 Anglican and Catholic College.

The College is open to families who are seeking a Christian education within the Anglican and Catholic

traditions; who are committed to working in partnership with teachers and College leaders; who

undertake to abide by College policies; and who are seeking an educational environment focused on

providing outstanding student learning outcomes.

The Christian foundations of our College provide the groundwork on which our policies, guidelines and

procedures are based. We seek to develop an environment in which community members experience

welcome hospitality and care of the individual, and encounter a place of safety and security, with

students at the centre of all that is undertaken.

An essential element of teaching at St Columba College is to ensure that students experience

outstanding educational success. High expectations are placed on teachers to model Christian and

professional behaviours; to be prepared to assume all responsibilities relating to teaching and learning;

and to engage with colleagues, students, and families in a respectful manner. It is an expectation that

teachers will uphold, actively support, and contribute to the Anglican and Catholic values that underpin

the College while providing students with outstanding learning opportunities.

The College invites parents to be partners in the educational development of their child/ren, and work

collaboratively to promote the best educational outcomes. Parents are expected to be committed to,

and abide by, St Columba’s Christian traditions and aims, as stated in the Constitution and College

Policies, in particular, the ethos of the College, academic standards, financial viability, uniform standards,

student support programs, and expected student behaviour norms.

Teachers are committed to providing parents with relevant information regarding students’ academic

progress and performance. Engaging parents in discussion on how best to support an individual’s

learning requirements and the development of learning goals is seen as normal practice – an integral

part of working in partnership with parents and guardians.

The College has a number of policies and a Code of Conduct by which staff are obliged to abide.

As St Columba College is a separately incorporated body, staff members are directly employed by the

College Council, through the Executive Principal, under an Enterprise Agreement.
