Arts are defined as the class of objects, production, expression, quality, or realm that subject to aesthetic criteria.Art also refers to the various branches of creative activity, such as painting, music, literature, and dance.

Benefits of Art in Singapore

Arts play a significant part in Singapore as it able to contribute a lot in the education sector. Arts also help Singapore socially by giving the country its unique identity and sustain a rich diversity. So, arts play a significant part in the country.

Point 1 (PEEL)

Point 1 : Arts ensure that students get a well-rounded education and it contributes to their overall development.Evidence: In 2001, the Ministry of Education in Singapore has drawn up a set of initiatives to develop and enhance arts education in schools. It is said to help individuals reach their full artistic potential.

A research from The College Review Board in United States of America has also shown that high school students who took art classes scored consistently better than their non-art peers.

Elaborate: Arts motivate students to learn. It enhances reading, language and mathematics skills. Arts also encourage critical thinking skills.

For example, the Sculpture Society in Singapore is a non-profit organisation that exhibits their works in Singapore and overseas to enhance artistic development through sharing, raise the standard of sculpture and its appreciation in Singapore and promote bilateral exchanges between Singapore sculptors and sculptors of other countries through organized activities such as exhibitions, workshops, talks, symposia and field trips.

Elaborate: Arts in the form of music is one important aspect that helps to bring different races of Singaporeans together. Songs like NDP songs and traditional songs help different races to bond with each other and learn their culture.
