General Meeting Dallas Gem and Mineral Society

10205 Plano Rd. Suite 104 Dallas, TX 75238

    September 20, 2016 Call to Order: 7:00 p.m.

Presentation: UTD Ph.D. student, Samuel Johnson, gave a slide presentation of his recent field study trip with undergrad students in New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada. He explained the methodology of the mapping exercise for the students and gave some infor- mation on the geology they examined. He had sample rocks from the area. One of the more interesting features was an area of “dikes” about 100 miles long whose exact origin and causation is unclear. Following the presentation, he took discussed the various stones he had with him and answered questions about them and the field trip. UTD Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Barbara H. Hollis, and Dr. James Carter were also in attendance. It was a lively and informative talk.

    Announcements: Diana Case, President
