Dear Readers,

Since its founding in 1839, the desire for maximum quality has been at the heart of the Roeckl family business, a common theme throughout the entire company process – from the design stage right until the perfection of the final details. The brand has used the best production methods as well as the finest materials for over 170 years, and in this time has passed on its knowledge through six generations.

This experienced craftsmanship can consistently be found in every group of products in the collection, skilfully combining creativity, timeless design and innovation. Because we are convinced that only this process can produce products which have the potential to become your favourite piece.

On our journey round the world, we got our inspiration for the Autumn/Winter collection 2013/14 from Iceland. The result is a collection that stands out due to its unique materials and distinctive play of colour and form. A collection which is just as beautiful and rich in contrast as the island itself, where the combined elemental powers of the earth become tangible: sometimes untamed and wild, sometimes romantic. Iceland’s landscapes are rugged, powerful and full of character – a magic realm which demonstrates the battle of the elements and casts a spell over the observer.

Accompany us on this thrilling journey and discover our new collection!

On behalf of the whole team, I would like to wish you many wonderful discoveries.

Best wishes,Your Annette Roeckl

Craftsmanship of the highest standard

Skilfully combining tradition with modernity, the Munich-based family company Roeckl

unites timeless design, creativity and innovation with a standard of craftsmanship honed

over more than 170 years. The result: Products which stand out due to their attention to

detail, and have the potential to become your absolute favourite piece.

The brand is characterised by its fervour, passion and commitment to quality without

compromise, common themes throughout the workings of the entire company. From the

creation and production of a piece right through to its distribution. This is underlined by our

choice of materials, our commitment to manufacturing in our own facilities and our

painstaking attention to detail. And not forgetting the conscientious advice and passion with

which we sell our products. This is exactly why Roeckl is held in great esteem around the

globe: Due to our special touch, and due to the unsurpassed quality, precision and reliability

of our pieces. In order to fulfil our high quality standards, the Roeckl range is primarily

produced at our own production facilities, which thereby guarantees that traditional

craftsmanship and the know-how that goes with it is consistently practiced and implemented.

For over 170 years the traditional company Roeckl has been the embodiment of authenticity,

outstanding craftsmanship and painstaking attention to detail. Roeckl has a passion for the

creation of perfectly conceived pieces from premium materials that fit perfectly and stand out

for their exquisite and timeless design.

Virtually no other form of clothing makes such a strong statement and is as complica-

ted to make as a pair of gloves. The company’s models are assembled from up to 24

components and hand-sewn, with some containing over 2,000 stitches. A glove by Roeckl

fits like a second skin, offering complete freedom of movement, perfect fingertip touch

and providing optimum protection from the cold. Every Roeckl glove is a unique artic-

le, emphasising the individual style of its wearer. For example, the choice of a long,

glamorous glove makes an elegant gala outfit all the more impressive, and a velvety-soft

cashmere-lined peccary glove caresses the hands on a winter walk.

Entry into the leather warehouse at Roeckl reveals valuable treasures: From hair sheep

leather, through peccary and deerskin, on to rarities such as ostrich leather or eel and

python skins, as far as the eye can see. The most important glove manufacturing techniques

were developed in France in the 8th century and are still used today at Roeckl. First of all the

hide is fixed, then the leather is scraped or, in other words, smoothed with a dollier knife to

achieve a standard thickness. The cut that follows is still pure man’s work, requiring use of

the entire body: The leather is stretched in length and width, in so-called table panels, and

then cut into a square, from which the correct size is then punched out. The perfect fit is

achieved through this controlled stretch.

a foulard by roeCkl: muCh more than just

a silk sCarf

Anyone who witnesses the manufacture of a silk scarf will remember it for the rest

of their life. The gentle rustling of the fabric as you softly rub it together sounds like

treading on freshly fallen snow and inevitably reminds you of the quiet swoosh of fine

gowns. Every scarf is a work of art and the result of a detailed finishing process. From

the drawing board through to colour composition, to the elaborate silk-screen printing

process and rolling by hand.

For high-quality silk scarves, the silk-screen printing procedure involves mixing and meting

out each colour by hand, and individually applying each layer. The first printing process

deals with the outline of the pattern, followed by the various colour applications, which are

applied individually one shade at a time. After each print, the scarf must dry completely be-

fore the silk can be fixed and refined. Finally the edges are elaborately hemmed i.e. rolled.

a bag by roeCkl: the perfeCt Companion

for every situation

In the atelier it smells of leather, and time seems to stand still. This is a realm of pure handicraft.

Dozens of handles, produced over many hours, skilfully turn precious leather into little works of art.

The result: Each bag is a unique specimen and has its own individual signature.

The bags, which are made from up to 44 individual components, give a sense of the personal passion,

devotion and elaborate handicraft of their makers. To be exact, two types of specialist work at Roeckl: the

cutters and the fine bag craftsmen. Because leather is such a living material, the cutting process requires

much experience in order to assess the properties of each hide correctly. Tight leather can shrink in high

humidity, and under certain circumstances soft leather tends to slacken, in other words ‘grow’. Once it

has been cut, the fine bag craftsmen must adjust to the special characteristics of the leather – because

only this perfect interaction can produce a long-lasting favourite piece.
