For many years ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore has been one o theleading suppliers marine and oshore insulation worldwide. ROCKWOOL

Marine & oshore is part o the ROCKWOOL group, which is the world

    largest manuacturer o stone wool.

ROCKWOOL markets a wide range o specially developed products and

constructions which have been tested and approved according to the latest

standards and by all major classication societies, just as ROCKWOOL is

certied according to the latest MED directive. As Notied Body ROCKWOOL

has chosen Det Norske Veritas, which consequently guarantees our quality.

There are stringent requirements o insulation materials to be used in the

marine & oshore sector. For the sake o both saety and unctionality it is

o particularly great importance that the products have good properties

in respect o re insulation, water repellence and sound reduction.

ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore insulation is made o stone wool,

which possesses superior properties in these very elds.

    Comfort Insulation

The requirements of the indoor climate and comfort have becomemore stringent during the recent years The insulation constitutes an

important factor of this, as it ensures obtaining the correct temperature

    as comfort insulation

The great advantage o the Rockwool products is that the high level o thermal

insulation can be combined with excellent noise reduction capabilities and oten

also re protection constructions will act as thermal comort insulation.

All ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore products will ull the IMO rules o non-

combustibility and low fame spread and besides this the products have

excellent water repellent properties which are also important as comort insu-

lation oten is placed directly up against the outer construction with changing

    temperatures.

    Floating Floors

To obtain a good comort a good noise reduction is required between the indivi-

dual decks. To prevent noise particularly impact sound and structure borne noise

rom travelling rom one cabin to another you must use an insulation solution

which has the necessary rigidity, elasticity and noise reduction/absorption. For

this purpose ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore has developed and or many years

marketed the Rockwool Marine Slab 140 with an excellent track record. This

product is widely used by dedicated foating foor companies as the core mate-rial, combined with dierent types o load spreading top layers and base layers.

    These solutions are extensively used

on cruise liners where stringent require-

ments are made in order or people to

be able to enjoy their cruise without

    being bothered by noise.

At the same time many o these foating

foor constructions are made as approved

    A-60 Deck Fire Protection Solutions.

ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore alsosupplies solutions or foating foor,

approved or A-60 Deck Fire Protection.

    Panels

    Throughout the accommodation

areas o a vessel or living quarter, it is

required to have B-Class re restriction

zones and re protection between each

cabin. And at the same time it is needed to

have comort and noise insulation between each

    cabin, towards public areas etc.

For this purpose the Rockwool Marine Slab range o products has proven to

    be highly successul.

ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore has together with the customers developed

a great number o special products possessing high compressive and

delaminating strength as well as great re resistance, which has been

approved as non-combustible according to latest IMO regulations.

The panel and door manuacturers here-by have an outstanding core material

or the abrication o sandwich constructions.

    Sound Solutions

Today an increasing ocus on noise reduction is present, which extents arbeyond the rules o national marine authorities and IMO, such as res A.468(XII).

The technical aspects in this area are quite complex and oten requires spe-

cialist companies to perorm sound design work, calculations and nal onboard

    measurements.

Rockwool products have excellent properties as; sound absorbers, stopping

structural borne noise (i.e. with foating foor and bulkhead constructions)

and as noise reduction by panels.

ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore is assisting in the battle against noise.

A large range o basic product measurements has been perormed, to create

the necessary data or the urther calculations.

A series o typical constructions have also been tested or the noise reduction

    capabilities.

    Technical Insulation

Pipe InsulationPipe insulation is rarely visible, but oten decisive or the comort and saety on

    board.

The saety rules o SOLAS (Chp II-2) regarding hot suraces in engine rooms

have to be ullled. Pipe insulation is also necessary to reduce the surace tem-

perature on the pipes so that people working in the vicinity are not injured by

    contact with hot pipes.

To prevent corrosion and blockage o pipes or heavy oil, cargo lines or prod-

uct tankers etc. it can urther more be decisive to avoid too great a heat loss

    rom the pipes.

ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore has a wide selection o marine approved solu-

tions or pipe insulation, which satisy all these requirements, or large pipes as

    well as small pipes.

Ridged pipe sections are available both with and without reinorced aluminium

    oil covering.

Also available is the Universal Pipe Section; a lower density and very fexible

pipe section, which ensures a quick and eective installation without cutting,

even when doing >90 degrees elbows.

The Rockwool Pipe Sections are especially suitable or ambient to very high

temperatures, but can also be utilised or chilled medias.

Please see the web site where a calculation application can be downloaded, to

determine heat loss, surace temperatures, and required thicknesses.

    Technical Installations

For a large range o technical equipment onboard a vessel or oshore installa-

tion, there will be requirements or insulation. This will oten be a combination

o thermal control, noise reduction and re saety. For these purposes

ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore will be able to supply a perect solution.

Also or odd size and shape installations.

    Air Ducts

Today, many requirements are made on air ducts. Most important is that the

comort on board the vessels or platorm living quarters is considered and that

no compromises are made to the demands on re saety.

In connection with ventilation o cabins and other rooms it must urthermore

be ensured that no condensation is ormed and that the required temperature

is maintained all the time. This is obtained by using one o the ROCKWOOL

    Marine & Oshore products.

FacingsThere are many reasons or choosing insulation products with acings. It is gen-

erally done to obtain a vapour barrier, which prevents ormation o condensa-

tion on the cold side o a construction. ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore can or

this purpose oer a number o products aced with a reinorced alu oil, which

ensures a strong surace. In addition to this, ROCKWOOL Marine & Oshore can

oten provide products with a glass abric, which oten provides a cheaper and

lighter construction. These products are typically used or car decks, aircondi-

tioning, plants, engine rooms, lit sharts or the like.

    Aquaduct CL are special pat-

    ented Rockwool products where

the vertical direction o the bres

    provides an excellent compres-

    sion resistance at low thicknesses

(down to 10 mm thickness). Thebres are bonded to a reinorced aluminium oil outer acing

and the product can be supplied with very low tolerances.

In most cases Aquaduct CL will be the optimal choice or

    Pipe in Pipe solutions.

    Aquaduct Sections are rigid

    pre-ormed circular units o

    Rockwool insulation supplied

with or without an outer covering.

    Aquaduct sections are available

in almost any combination o dia-meter, thickness and length and can be adapted to

individual needs and specications. Aquaduct Sections

are the optimal choice or bigger sizes o pipe.

    Aquaduct PSM is

    a rigid Rockwool

    slab having a glass

    scrim or reinorced

    aluminium oil acing

    bonded to one side

and triangular grooves in the other.

The grooves allow the slab to wrap

around and closely t specied large

    diametres.

    Aquaduct Bevelled

    Lags are trapezoidal

    strips o Rockwool

    rigid slab designed

    to contour specied

    large diametres. The

    lags can be supplied

loose or bonded to a reinorced

oil or metal outer sheet. The use o

    Aquaduct Bevelled Lags oers the

    designer the acility to incorporate

    inset strips o varying thicknesses.

    Aquaduct Loose Fill

    is a specially graded,

    granular insulation

    designed to in-ll

    around pipe bundles

    and to ully ll irregu-

    lar voids. Aquaduct

Loose Fill can be installed at a wide

range o densities, either by hand

packing or by use o specially de-

    signed blowing equipment.

Aquaduct - Thermal Insulationsolutions for Sub-Sea Pipeline

ROCKWOOLs unique product properties within re resistance, water and mois-ture repellent, sound reduction and thermal conductivity, which traditionally have

been used e.g. within the marine and oshore sector, can now with benet be

used or thermal insulation o Sub-Sea Pipelines.

    The increased eciency improvement

when drilling or oil and use o the worlds oil

reserves mean that we operate on deeper

    ocean depths with increasing temperatures

o the crude oil as a consequence. Precisely

    here, the combination o ROCKWOOLs

capability to resist high temperatures and

    good insulating qualities appears.

Aquaduct has already been used success-

ully in Sub-Sea projects world wide or se-

veral years. We oer individual and custom-

ised solutions to match the specic condi-

tions and needs: Pipe-in-pipe system, Pipe
