Fast Takes & The Bistro are the ONLY other lines open on Friday. You MUST pick-up your ticket from a cashier in the main Café BEFORE heading to pick-up your food. Mark your calendars for the 6th annual Rock the Arts event this Sunday, May 5th, from 2-5pm! We will be celebrating the Visual and Performing Arts grades K-12. There will be food from the HS Culinary Arts Program, as well as other activities from clubs and organizations. Various local businesses will be represented as well. Plan on joining in on the fun! Enter through the main office and auditorium doors of Westfield High School. All new initiates for Spanish, French and German Honor Society should remember to arrive by 7 p.m. in the LGI for the French and German Ceremony, and in the Auditorium for Spanish Honor Society Ceremony. We expect the ceremony will last about 30 minutes and we can enjoy refreshments with your families in the Bistro area afterward. We are excited to honor you and look forward to honoring you all tonight! ALL MEDICATIONS, both over-the-counter and prescription, MUST be PICKED UP by the parent/guardian by the last day of school on May 24, 2019. Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medications between 7:30AM– 3:30PM Monday-Friday. All medication left in the clinic after the last day of school will be DISCARDED. Questions? Call the Clinic (317)867-6805. Please join the WHS steel band classes as they present a free concert on this Thursday May 2 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. They will be performing a wide range of musical selections from traditional calypso to reggae to jazz. All are welcome! Can you believe it will be May this week! We are just a few weeks away from the last day of school and there is something new this year! The Westfield Education Foundation teamed up with the City of Westfield and Grand Park to host the Grand Summer Kickoff. It will take place at the Grand Park Sports Campus on the last day of the 2018-2019 school year, Friday, May 24. The free event is for all Westfield residents regardless of age. The Grand Summer Kickoff will feature a dodgeball competition, kite flying, musical entertainment, food for purchase, a health fair, Knockerball, and a family adventure race – that stretches over half of the 400-acre Grand Park Sports Campus. It is FREE to attend!!

There is a cost to register a team for the dodgeball competition and/or registration for the family adventure course. A portion of the proceeds from these events will go to the Westfield Education Foundation, who provides scholarship to our seniors and grants to our teachers! Tickets will be delivered to those students (English- Friday, Math- next Tuesday) to remind them of when and where they need to report to. STUDENTS PLANNING TO DRIVE AND PARK ON SCHOOL PROPERTY NEXT YEAR PLEASE READ: All students wishing to obtain a parking permit for the 2019-20 school year will be able to apply for permits on the following dates: SENIORS -Wednesday, May 8th, Thursday, May 9th and Friday, May 10th. JUNIORS -Monday, May 13th, Tuesday, May 14th, and Wednesday, May 15th. SOPHOMORES -Need official driver’s license-Thursday, May 16th, and Friday, May 17th. FINAL SIGN UP DATES -Monday, May 20th and Tuesday, May 21st You will need: A completed and signed application with a check made out to WHS, or cash in the amount of $20. You will be required to show your valid driver’s license at this time also. There will be two summer dates for sign up, July 16 and 17th. Hours are 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days (a $25 fee will be collected during the summer dates). The permits will be available during all lunches the first week of school. It’s the end of the trimester, which means that it is time for the RockStar Award Nomination

Rounds! Each trimester, we recognize five individuals who exemplify the spirit of the RockStar Award. A reminder of what the award is about: The RockStar Award is intended to recognize students and staff who exemplify the qualities like hard work, innovation, dedication, and creativity that we at Westfield High School strive to achieve. These individuals work hard every day to enrich the community as well as the school in all that they do. Each trimester, one student from each grade is chosen as a ROCKStar, as well as one staff member. These faculty members including but not limited to secretaries, counselors, custodial staff, cafeteria workers, and teachers have strong work ethic and commitment to Westfield that make them an integral part of making a great community. When nominating an individual to receive the ROCKStar Award , please include a description of why you think they deserve to be recognized as rock stars. This is NOT a drivers’ ed class! We teach car control, skid control, accident avoidance, proper braking, and much more, all in the car the kids drive every day. This class is already more than 30% sold out so act fast. Cost is $95.00 and it can, literally, save your kids’ life.

WHS students and parents: Please be aware that students may not have food delivered from any outside restaurant delivery service during the school day. ANY exceptions MUST have approval from an administrator. Students who forgot a lunch have the option of eating in one of our cafeterias. We have our main cafeteria that offers multiple food choices each day, our Famous Phil’s shop in the Learning Center that offers sandwiches, and our Box Office Bistro that has pizza every day. Lunch money can be deposited online at any time. If a parent drops off lunch from an outside restaurant it will be kept in the office area and the student it belongs to will be asked to eat that lunch in the office area. Students will not be called to the office to pick up lunch-if you anticipate bringing your child’s lunch to school, please let him or her know beforehand to check in at the office for his/her lunch. Contact us at [email protected] ATHLETICS: Varsity Softball falls to Zionsville High School 12-7. The Rocks lost a conference game against Zionsville 12-7 on Tuesday evening. The Rocks were led offensively by sophomore Sara Harmeyer with three hits including two doubles and one RBI. Reghan Oland, Avery Parker and Caroline Maymon each had two hits. Parker hit her fifth home run on the season. Emily Revercomb had one hit in the game. Avery Wagner took the loss in the game allowing only four earned runs and struck out three over five innings of work. The Rocks play again on Friday evening against Mt. Vernon at 6:00 PM. Friday evening is WYSI night in which players who wear their jerseys will be admitted free!

Junior Varsity Softball falls to Zionsville High School 5-2. Westfield Rocks JV Green lost the lead late in a 5-2 defeat to Zionsville JV on Tuesday. The game was tied at one with Zionsville batting in the top of the fifth when #15 doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Westfield opened up scoring in the second inning, when Sami Stegner grounded out, scoring one run. Cassidy Mallory was on the rubber for the Shamrocks. She lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one. Lizzie Batta threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Sydney Flora led Westfield with two hits in three at bats. Abby Stump, Victoria Pucci, and Sami Stegner all added a hit in the contest. Boys Varsity Golf beat Zionsville High School 324-327. Boys golf won a 3 way match on Tuesday night at Prairieview Golf Club. The Rocks finished with a team score of 324 which was 1 shot better than Cathedral (325) and 3 shots better than Zionsville 327. The medalist of the match was Zionsville senior Reid VonDielegen with 75. The Rocks were led by Junior Drake Biggs with 79 and Senior Ethan Lutz with 80. The Rocks are back in action this Saturday in the state preview - 1:00pm at Prairieview Golf Club in Carmel. Girls Varsity Tennis falls to Franklin Central High School 4-1. The Girls Varsity tennis team fell to Franklin Central 1-4 on Tuesday night. #1 singles Chloe Kalis lost 0-6, 0-6 #2 singles Julia Gabennesch won 6-0, 6-0 #3 singles Emma Schwind lost 5-7. 2-6 #1 doubles of Meredith Carlson and Maya Raymond lost 2-6, 6-4, 1-6 #2 doubles Maddie Heilmann and Hannah Pensyl lost 1-6, 2-6 The Rocks will take on HSE on Wednesday at home. The Athletic Department will host a College Signing Day on Wednesday, May 15th at 3:00 in front of the Main Office area (Door 6). Any senior who has committed to play collegiate athletics is invited to attend the signing. Athletes are responsible for inviting all family members and coaches who they want to attend the ceremony and be included in the picture. REMINDER: Medical Information must be submitted through the PARENT PORTAL of PowerSchool in order for your child to be treated in the health clinic. This includes administering Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen. We will not be calling parents for permission to give medications unless the student is significantly ill. This must be updated EVERY School Year. If you have having difficulty getting into your Parent Portal, please contact the Central Office for assistance We have a new security system this year called Safe Visitor . For the safety and security of our students and staff ALL visitors to the school will need to be prepared to show their driver’s license or photo identification as a visitor in our school.
