What a blessing to God and His people it was to have the Creek-wood and Pilgrim Baptist Church families back together in fellow-ship and praise once again! From the first time these two great bodies in Christ began their fellowship, it was evident that God was at the head of it all! We have learned, shared, cried, worshiped and rejoiced over many a good meal together over the years. Through pastoral leadership, member and location changes, God’s plan for the binding of these two church’s hearts has not been lost. Pastor Darren Loeppky brought a powerful word from the Lord and Pilgrim’s Mass Choir lifted hearts in song. Prayerfully, coming to-gether again has given each person a renewed spirit to once again let the world know that we are Christian by our love!

Happy Birthday & Anniversary!

“Bring a Father to Sunday School”

is a special tribute to all fathers, hosted by the Sunday School staff

and the Women’s Min-istry. Come to Sunday School on Father’s Day

and bring all dads with you!

BLEST BE THE TIE THAT BINDS OUR HEARTS IN CHRISTIAN LOVE!

The “Annual Spring Luncheon to Honor Mothers” was a wonderful event in a room beautifully decorated with colorful butterflies by Matti Chappel and Carol Bell. The meal was prepared with leadership by Shirley Aliprandi and help from many others. The Men of Pilgrim honored the mothers by serving the meal and acting as hosts. Mrs. Sharon Malone’s inspirational message about mothers referenced Pilgrim’s 2011 theme, “Our Best for God’s Glory.” Entertainment included a “barbershop” version of the “Mother” song by Minister Carl L. Towns and his sister Carol Jo Brown of Lafayette, IN. Minister Sharon Olson of Pilgrim and her husband, Dr. Mitch Olson, performed a mov-ing instrumental duet with violin and keyboard. Many attending said it was a great way to honor mothers!

Mistress of Ceremony Bethanne Holifield kept the program moving while entertaining with witty anecdotes. Staci Wright presented the gifts prepared for mothers in four categories: Mother with youngest child; oldest child; most children; and the mother who traveled far-thest. Recipients were Shatiqua Brown (at right); Carol Jo Brown; and Mrs. Georgia Moore, who was a winner in two categories.

Pilgrim’s “Journeyland” Children’s Church at-tendees had a wonderful time experiencing and learning about God in exciting new ways. Seen in these photos, the “Journeyland” teachers and students gather for a picture dur-ing their season end celebration. Minister Car-men Jordan has led the staff and children in using technology, interesting curriculum and fun crafts as a means to excite and empower our children with the Word of God.

The staff has been successful in finding ways to meet our children where they are and engaging them in the activity of Worship. One parent commented that it was exciting to see their child run to her class in anticipation of what would take place that Sunday in “Journeyland”. The “Journeyland” experience will resume in September.

Min. Jordan shares a lesson, assisted by teacher, Albara Morris.

CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS!

Well … though our moms probably told us that, this statement is not found in the Bible. BUT, it surely ties in with our church focus, “Our Best for God’s Glory!” The Pilgrim family came together under the leadership of Custodian, John Rasch, to help beautify the church facility on Saturday, May 14th. The day was dreary, rainy and cold, but the spirits of those who came to work were high! Each person signed up for a designated project. There were painters, window washers, kitchen organizers and woodwork cleaners. Persons worked inside and outside of our building to get things spic and span. Even the outside shed was cleared out and old things were discarded. From youth to retired seniors, each one had something to contribute toward making things look organized and clean. Mrs. Lorraine Thurmond made sure that all of the workers had a great lunch. The conversation at lunch was priceless, as it centered around the fellowship and pride of completing much needed beautification projects. Thanks to Deacon Forest Patterson and Deacon Emeritus, Robert Thomas for their vision long ago to share the responsibility of helping to keep our church and surrounding areas in a way that would please God, and to John Rasch for resurrecting and directing the vision! It appears that this will become an annual event, so if you missed it this year, keep your supplies and tools in a convenient place! We’ll look forward to seeing you next year!
