ROCK’D – THE TITLE & LOGO

>> I managed to find the font for my title and logo through dafont.com. A very useful site with hundreds of different fonts available, so varying it down to two wasn’t exactly easy.

>> The first image will serve as my title which will be displayed on my front cover. The wings at each of the opposing ends of the title gives it a unique look, thus making it extraordinary to my music magazine.

>> The second logo will be displayed on all the other pages to make the magazine look like an authentic real thing. I chose to make it look different to the original title to show the difference in importance between the two, with the title being the more vocal image of the magazine.

FORMS AND CONVENTIONS>> I do believe my magazine tends to be on borderline with the regular conventions of a real music magazine. My front cover includes featured articles as any other magazine would and also a very eye catching mast head. However it strays away through the use of two other images allocated on the front cover. This could avert attention from the main image, however this was done to further promote the two featured articles.

>> Towards the bottom of the cover I’ve also mentioned other things that’ll be in the magazine, as real music magazines tend to do when they can’t fit everything on the cover, the unfortunate problem I happened to run into.

>> My music magazine also isn’t primarily based on simply music alone. I’ve also included a featured article on the front page that indicates a review for the video game Beatles Rock Band . I have however still remained to my rock genre roots and selected a typical rock music video game.

FORMS AND CONVENTIONS CONT.

>> The contents page of my magazine also tends to stray from any regular music magazine as there isn’t exactly a wall of text and numbers.

>> I’ve included two images that represent two featured articles so the readers can straight away see the featured artists and turn to the allocated page number with ease, rather than having to find their name in the contents.

>> Even the background image serves as a promotional image for an article which you don’t find in a lot of music magazines.

>> My logo can be seen in the top left hand corner, making the magazine appear authentic.

MAGAZINE DISTRIBUTION>> My magazine will be made available for purchase at a variety of different stores which can include; music stores such as HMV and Zavvi, grocery stores such as Tesco and Asda and also other stores that will tend to sell magazines such as WHSmith and places as simple as corner stores. It will have to reach as many stores as it possibly can to maximize it’s exposure.

>> With the inclusion of the Beatles Rock Band review, there could also be a limited number of issues in game stores such as GAME and Gamestation.

TARGET AUDIENCE>> I believe my Music Magazine appeals to rock fans of all forms, so people of ages 16 – 60.

>> I have a number of different bands featured in my magazine who include Nickelback, Green day and Linkin Park, whom all stem out to different and the very many genres of rock. So there’s something for everyone to find appealing. Whether it be metal, post-grunge, punk rock or Linkin Park’s unique nu metal rap rock.

>> With the added article of Beatles Rock Band, it could also possibly reach out to the gaming community as well as the older generation who grew up listening to the Beatles’ music.
