Our October 2014 enrollment projection study conducted by Plante Moran CRESA, predicts that student enrollment will decline in the fall of 2015. In order to ensure the long-term financial stability of the organization, it is imperative that we align expenses with revenue to maintain a balanced budget. We will accomplish this by maximizing organizational efficiencies across the District. Unfortunately, this will include changes in staffing levels in all areas of the organization. Staffing levels will remain within the framework of current collective bargaining agreements where applicable. A sustainable business model requires responsible stewardship of resources. The continued delivery of high quality programs for all students remains a top priority. During the month of April, we will analyze staffing needs based upon enrollment projections and student course preferences. It is our intention to issue tentative assignments in late May and layoff notices will be issued as soon as possible. We understand that this uncertainty may cause anxiety for many of our colleagues. However, we strongly feel that it is our obligation to be transparent in communicating the District’s budgetary and staffing needs. Thank you for your support and continued engagement in the very important vocation of educating our children. Sincerely, Robert Shaner, Ph.D. Superintendent
