Introduction

A robot is a mechanical or virtual agent, usually

an electro-mechanical machine  that is guided by a computer

program or electronic circuitry

Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with

the design, construction, operation, and application of

robots

Mobile robots

A mobile robot is an automatic machine that is capable of movement in any given environment.

Industrial robots

An industrial robot is defined by ISO as

an automatically controlled, reprogrammable, multipurpose

manipulator programmable in three or more axes

Typical applications of robots include welding, painting, assembly,

pick and place (such as packaging, palletizing and SMT), product inspection, and testing; all accomplished with high endurance,

speed, and precision.

Collaborative robots

A collaborative robot or Cobot is a robot that can

safely and effectively

interact with human workers in performance

of simple industrial tasks.

The collaborative robots most

widely used in industries today

are manufactured by Universal

Robots in Denmark.

The ushers are a new breed of collaborative

robots being integrated with

humans in real-world manufacturing

settings, free of many of the safety

constraints required in the past. No more separation between

man and robot.
