CONGRATULATIONS!YOU ARE A CERTIFIEDMEDICAL EXAMINER!

Create your National Registry Account at https://nationalregistry.fmcsa.dot.gov. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a welcome message and a National Regis-try Number. You will need your National Registry Number to schedule and sit for the FMCSA medical examiner certification test in Step 4.

Complete required training from a training program that meets or exceeds the FMCSA’s requirements, including (1) training must cover the 8 topics in the FMCSA’s core curriculum specifications, and (2) the training provider must be accredited by a nationally-recognized medical profession organization that provides continuing education credits.

Register and Pass the FMCSA medical examiner certification test administered by an FMCSA-authorized private-sector training organization. After the FMCSA confirms the test grading from the site and validates your credentials, they will issue you a National Registry Certificate and your contact information will then be listed on the National Registry Website.

Congratulations! You are now a Certified Medical Examiner. As a certified medical examiner, you will make important medical certifi-cation decisions that will reduce the risk for crashes, injuries and fatalities among interstate CMV drivers.

To maintain your listing on the National Registry, you must transmit to the FMCSA your CMV Driver Medical Examination Results, submit to periodic random reviews, take a refresher course every 5 years, and re-certify by passing the FMCSA exam every 10 years.
